is it too early to plant spring bulbs? ie. tulips, daffodils, etc.   (dubois area)

I think you could put them in now.

Put them in now with a good dose of bulb food mixed in the soil and something like human hair to ward off the rodents who are still active and want a snack.  The later you put them in, the less likely something will eat them.

Blood Meal, human hair, urine, plant bulbs deeper and later in the season, use wire cages or a layer of small holed wire fencing.  Put deterrants  and bulb food in the hole with the soil at bulb depth.

lol what do people do just go pee in their flower beds?

Actually they send their husbands out to "sprinkle" the areas most visited by varmints.  No standing still though!  Just tell him to make sure it's dark and he has a good escape route!  On the other hand you can buy coyote urine at the feed and hunting stores.  

 

You can also sprinkle used kitty litter in the bulb bed.
