Minnesota state Rep. Harry Niska, R., asked during a debate on a new bill whether praise for "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling or arguing that COVID originated in China would qualify as biased speech that would put citizens on a government database.

Minnesota lawmakers are mulling a change to state law, House File 181, that would log alleged bias incidents even when they aren't considered a crime. The bill, introduced in January, would allow people to report perceived bias-related incidents such as alleged slurs and verbal attacks that would fall outside the hate crimes compiled annually by the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, according to the St. Cloud Times. 

Republican state Rep. Walter Hudson warned House File 181 could pose a threat to religious freedom. 

 

"It seems very clear, based upon their focus on motivation, that they're more concerned about what's going on in people's heads, which is protected speech, and that's thoughtcrime," he told Fox News Digital in March.

President Biden is no stranger to detailed cheat sheets when speaking to the press, but the president's team seems to have taken things up a notch after he revealed a pre-written question from a reporter during Wednesday's press conference.

As Biden spoke alongside South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol in the White House Rose Garden, a photographer captured a small cheat-sheet in the president's hand signaling he had advanced knowledge of a question from Los Angeles Times journalist Courtney Subramanian. The small paper also included a picture of the reporter along with the pronunciation breakdown of her last name. "Question #1" was handwritten at the top of the sheet, indicating the president should call on her first at the conclusion of his remarks.

Reps. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., and Troy Nehls, R-Texas clashed at a fiery hearing on the child migrant crisis at the southern border on Wednesday, with Nehls making comments about Swalwell’s "checkered past" after the Democratic congressman quizzed a GOP witness about her activities on Jan 6. 2021.

The hearing, "The Biden Border Crisis: Exploitation of Unaccompanied Alien Children," was held by the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement. It comes after a series of reports of how many of the hundreds of thousands of unaccompanied migrant children were exploited and forced into the labor market.

But Swalwell diverted from the topic to quiz one of the witnesses about her activities on Jan 6., and whether she was on Capitol grounds during the riot.

 

After an intensive series of questions, Swalwell’s time expired and Nehls apologized to the witness for his Democratic counterpart’s questioning.

Nehls appeared to be referring to Christine Fang, or Fang Fang, a suspected Chinese spy. In 2020, it was reported that Fang had allegedly targeted a number of Bay Area Democrats -- including Swalwell -- and interacted with him, including helping place an intern in his office, before he was alerted by the FBI of Fang’s behavior in 2015. At that point he immediately cut off contact with her and has not been accused of any wrongdoing, according to Axios.

The beer giant, which is owned by Belgium-based brewing conglomerate InBev, has hired a lobbying team of former Republican Senate staffers to woo lawmakers as it seeks to repair Bud Light's image among conservatives following backlash over the brand's partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

AAF president Tom Jones wrote in the letter that McClean and Lynch are "making the rounds on the Hill trying to red-wash Bud Light's disastrous decision to partner with a man pretending to be a woman and tell you the company really does respect conservative values."

 

"They're even making the shamefully offensive equivalency argument that their transgender activist beer can is just like their beer can honoring WWII vets," Jones continued. "They're telling offices, ‘Anheuser-Busch sometimes creates commemorative cans. ... Honor Flight can [for] example.’ If partnering with a trans activist wasn't shameful enough equating Dylan Mulvaney to a World War II hero is really beyond the pale."

When reached for reaction, AAF said in a statement, "If Bud Light wants to regain the trust of conservative customers, they should apologize for insulting their values by embracing the woke left’s radical gender agenda instead of wasting their money on lobbyists. Bud Light sided with the Left against the average American and no amount of D.C. lobbyists in fancy suits will make them forget that."

The left’s war on fossil fuels knows no boundaries. Every line of attack will be pursued. The latest salvo came with the January listing of the lesser prairie chicken as a threatened or endangered species by the Biden administration’s U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services (USFWS). The listing covers the entirety of the bird’s habitat—which includes the southwest quarter of Kansas as well as the panhandles of Texas and Oklahoma.

Recently I, along with the attorneys general of Texas and Oklahoma, filed a lawsuit in federal district court to stop the listing. We maintain that the Biden administration failed to meet the statutory criteria for listing the species. As a legal matter, we are confident that the Biden administration’s position will be found wanting.

The reason that the Biden administration moved forward with the listing has little to do with the prairie chicken, itself. Rather, it has everything to do with the war on fossil fuels. On top of that, it offered the Biden administration an opportunity to attack cattle ranching as well—the latest disfavored industry of the woke left.

 

The listing is a direct attack on the economy of Kansas, which is home to over 70 percent of the lesser prairie chicken population. It will make it virtually impossible to drill any new oil wells.  And it forces ranchers to file annual grazing management plans with a federally-designated agency.

The student said the school was putting the safety of women in "jeopardy" by allowing transgender students to use the same bathroom and locker rooms as female students, alluding to a physical altercation captured in a viral video showing a transgender student assaulting a female student on campus.

Activists demand higher payments from California reparations task force: '$200 million' per person

California activists demand millions more for every Black resident than current proposal

 

Economists predicted in a preliminary estimate in March that California's reparations plan could cost the state more than $800 billion. The task force, which consulted five economists and policy experts to arrive at the number, said at the time that the total didn't include compensation for property that the group says was taken unjustly or for the devaluation of Black-owned businesses.

California's total annual state budget sits at roughly $300 billion.

 

Earlier this week, however, the task force published its latest proposals, which don't contain an overall price tag but instead outline ways California could calculate how much money Black residents have lost since 1850, when the state was established, through today due to discrimination.

The report suggests dollar amounts that have been lost for specific types of racial discrimination, indicating that those amounts should be paid back to Black residents.

These estimates include, for example, losing $2,352 per person per year of California residence for the over-policing of Black communities, $3,366 per person per year of residence for "discriminatory lending and zoning," $13,619 per person per year of residence for "injustices and discrimination in health" and $77,000 per person for Black-owned business losses and devaluations.

The task force also urges in its latest documents that eligible Black Californians receive cash "down payments" as soon as possible while waiting for the full amount of money loss due to racism and slavery to be calculated.

In total, a Black person who has lived in California for their whole life, until at least age 71, could potentially receive more than $1.2 million in lifetime restitution.

Denver City Councilwoman Candi CdeBaca says reparations needed to repair the harm of 'this entire economy'

 

A Denver city council representative seeking re-election proposed taxing "White-led businesses" and redistributing the wealth to minorities as reparations for the harm of capitalism.

 

"Capitalism was built on stolen land, stolen labor and stolen resources. And a check today could not undo the cumulative impact of generations of that stolen wealth in all of those categories," Denver councilwoman Candi CdeBaca said during a political forum Friday.

CdeBaca said there were existing structures "that could be flipped" to compensate for land, labor and resources allegedly lost due to racism.

The IRS has removed the "entire investigative team" from its multi-year tax fraud investigation of Hunter Biden, and a whistleblower who raised concerns about the handling of the case is claiming the move was "clearly retaliatory," according to a Monday report. 

Per The New York Post, the whistleblower’s attorneys told Congress that the removal was on the order of the Department of Justice. 

"Today the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Criminal Supervisory Special Agent we represent was informed that he and his entire investigative team are being removed from the ongoing and sensitive investigation of the high-profile, controversial subject about which our client sought to make whistleblower disclosures to Congress. 

"He was informed the change was at the request of the Department of Justice," attorneys Mark Lytle and Tristan Leavitt wrote.

Federal prosecutors are dropping corruption charges against Andrew Gillum — the 2018 Democratic gubernatorial nominee who narrowly lost to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis — after a jury acquitted him on one count and hung on remaining charges that he pocketed campaign cash and illegally receiving gifts, including theater tickets to "Hamilton." 

Prosecutors initially said they would retry Gillum after a jury acquitted him on one count of lying to the FBI but failed to reach a verdict on 17 counts of wire fraud and a wire fraud conspiracy count at the conclusion of his May 4 trial. However, on Monday, the prosecution filed a one-paragraph motion that asked a judge to dismiss the remaining charges against Gillum and his co-defendant, Sharon Lettman-HIcks.

Gillum's defense attorneys said now their client can "resume his life and public service." 

Gillum’s troubles expanded beyond the alleged charges as, in 2020, Gillum was found in a Miami Beach hotel room with someone who had apparently overdosed on drugs.

Police said Gillum was too inebriated to talk about what happened when they arrived on the scene. While no one was ever charged with any crime involving the incident, Gillum withdrew from public life for months.

He also sought treatment for alcohol abuse and depression.

 

Prosecutors had claimed Gillum committed fraud because he was struggling financially after quitting his $120,000-a-year job with the progressive People for the American Way group when he decided to run for governor. Lettman-Hicks, a longtime political adviser to Gillum and former executive with the group, was accused of conspiring with Gillum to divert the contributions to his personal accounts. Jurors also deadlocked on those counts.

The jury found Gillum not guilty of charges that he lied about his interactions with undercover FBI agents posing as developers who paid for a 2016 trip he and his brother took to New York, which included a ticket to the hit Broadway show "Hamilton." Gillum contended his brother provided the ticket.

Officers were called to the luxury Miami Beach hotel for a suspected overdose involving one of the other men on March 13 and reported that Gillum was too inebriated to speak.

The newly released photos show stained and rumpled bed sheets, a box for a party light disco ball, spilled white pills on the carpet and a vial of a drug often used for erectile dysfunction, but reveal no further light on what Gillum was doing there.

Two members of progressive group "the Squad" were the only Democrats to vote against a resolution that memorialized police officers killed in the line of duty and expressed condolences to their loved ones.

During a vote Monday recognizing National Police Week, Reps. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., and Cori Bush, D-Mo., uttered the only nays heard from the House floor as the chamber voted on the pro-law enforcement resolution.

The resolution, which passed with unanimous support from Republicans and nearly all Democrats, amended H.Res. 363 title to read: "Resolution memorializing law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty."

Durham report shows it was Clinton, not Trump, who colluded with Russians: Victor Davis Hanson

Hanson criticizes a series of individuals tied to Clinton's campaigns or administration

 

 

The Durham report suggests there are more questions about Hillary Clinton's overtures toward Russian entities than former President Donald Trump's, Victor Davis Hanson claimed.

Hanson, a historian and fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institution, told "Life, Liberty & Levin" that Durham's findings showed that "far from being a Trump-Russian connection, there was a Hillary-Clinton–Russian connection."

Hanson analyzed the findings, saying they showed Clinton was using a Moscow-based "source," Democrat-linked PR executive Charles Dolan Jr., to collect purported intelligence on Trump.

Dolan, who served twice as former President Bill Clinton's Virginia state campaign chairman, was "feeding" information to Igor Danchenko, a Russian national working at the Brookings Institution at a time the thinktank was being led by Nelson "Strobe" Talbott, Hanson said.

 

Talbott, who also served as Bill Clinton's deputy secretary of State, had been made privy to "briefings and inquiries on the development of the dossier" by Steele, according to a Fox News analysis by law professor Jonathan Turley.

"Strobe Talbott… was introduced to Christopher Steele through Fiona Hill of impeachment fame, and the basic story mark was that they were fabricating everything in this dossier, and Dolan was trying to pass on rumors to Danchenko, who was corroborating with Steele," Hanson said.

In a 2019 Politico op-ed, Talbott notably claimed in-part, "[W]e already know that the Kremlin helped put Trump into the White House and played him for a sucker."

Hanson said the purported "pee tape" — which supposedly was to have shown prostitutes urinating on a Moscow hotel bed at the behest of Trump to spite the Obamas, who reportedly previously slept there — was "all made up."

"[A]nd worse yet, the FBI knew it was made up, and yet they continued to pay Danchenko in hopes that he might find some credibility because they were using this material to get a FISA warrant to spy on [then-Trump campaign aide] Carter Page, and yet they knew that it was false."

"Even in the case of Steele, they offered him $1 million, apparently, if he could just reify or substantiate just one point and he couldn't. So the FBI was knee-deep in it, and Durham suggests that they didn't want to investigate Hillary or monitor her communications," he said.

The reason the feds didn't probe Clinton as they had Trump, he surmised, was because they were certain she was soon to be elected president.

The 225-196 vote effectively killed the resolution introduced by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., and included two other Republican lawmakers voting "present" along with five Democrats.

Prior to the vote, Massie said he opposed the idea of a fine against Schiff — the resolution recommended a $16 million fine but did not require it.

"Adam Schiff acted unethically but if a resolution to fine him $16 million comes to the floor I will vote to table it. (vote against it)," he tweeted Wednesday.

Republicans roll out new national voting law, warn Americans to watch out for Democrat deception

Lawmakers introduced the bill in Atlanta in solidarity with a state voting law passed in 2021

ATLANTA – House Republicans have introduced a bill aimed at securing election integrity across the country while also issuing a stark warning to Americans to watch out for possible Democrat deception surrounding the legislation.

Five Republican members of the Committee on House Administration (CHA) held a press conference at the famous Marietta Diner near Atlanta on Monday to officially roll out the American Confidence in Elections (ACE) Act, something they say will give states the tools they need to not only protect the integrity of their elections, but also restore voter confidence in the elections process.

The bill includes a photo ID requirement to cast a federal election ballot, bars non-citizens from voting, requires annual maintenance of voter rolls, and prevents the mailing of unsolicited ballots to rolls that have not been maintained.

 

When asked by Fox News Digital if the committee expected any pushback from Democrats despite the "voter-suppression" narrative surrounding Georgia's bill being debunked after the state saw record turnout in the 2022 midterm elections, Steil didn't parse words.

"Rest assured, the left is going to attack this legislation. It's one of the reasons I think it's important that we're here in Georgia, because we saw the left's false attacks against voter integrity legislation previously," he said. 

"I have no doubt that the left is going to attempt to attack, to mislead, to disguise the work that we're doing. It's all the more important that we're here in the open holding hearings, not just in Washington, D.C., but here in Atlanta, Georgia, and across the country so people have the opportunity to read, to review the legislation," he added.

Loudermilk emphasized a hypothetical scenario Steil cited earlier that under current laws in Washington, D.C., any person who spends 30 days in the U.S., including a Russian national working at the Russian embassy, would be eligible to vote in the city's mayoral elections, or even run for mayor themselves.
