  1. Nikon-I wonder if drops would be too much for him after he had the meds on Tuesday? He is right around two pounds. Just a teeny little thing. Thanks!

Revolution has the flea/worm drops for kittens 0 to 5 pounds. I would check with the vet before you use them to make sure there are no issues with the meds it was just given.

Unless someone else knows where they sell Revolution locally other than a vets office I have never been able to find it in any area stores or pet stores between Dubois and Indiana.

  2. It's a little pricey but Revolution flea/worm drops are IMO the best on the market. Our cat had worms at about one year old and after the worm medicine from the vet we started using the drops and she hasn't had worms since. She has been a house cat since she was a kitten and has never been outside. I asked the vet how she could have gotten worms being a house cat and she said they could come from the potting soil in your house plants, come in on dirt on your shoes/cloths if you're around other cats that have worms, or even flies.

  3. Our German Shepherds (rest in peace) loved the Winter and the colder the better. They would go outside and lay in the snow on the coldest days of the year and would stay out there all day if we let them. The male laid outside one day we were having a pretty good snow storm and we couldn't find him. Well the goof ball finally decided to get up when we were calling him and he was covered with snow and looked at us like what the heck I was right here the whole time.

    Man I miss those two!!

Me and the wife have been talking quite a bit and it sounds like it's time to have a new family member or two.

  4. There is a different time and method to prune any tree or shrub.  Doing it properly will make the difference between a plant that lives long and produces good fruit or flowers, and a plant that is slowly dying by inches through the years.

The tree pictured may develop bushy growth at the tips but will probably die out after a few years.  The main branch tip growth where hormones are produced has been destroyed and the resulting growth will never be as strong as the original main branches.  The bark will never close over those cuts.  Even if it gets really full it will shade the main part of the tree too much and the result will probably be lots of fungus.  The cut tips may allow rot into the tree that will kill it over a long period of time.

A tree needs sunlight inside of it to allow fruit to ripen, and air circulation to dry it and keep diseases at bay.  The one pictured will need lots of restorative pruning if it survives long enough for the pruning to be worthwhile.

This is a free Penn State publication with wonderful information that you can print out.   pubs.cas.psu.edu/FreePubs/pdfs/AGRS95.pdf

For some plants it has to be right after they flower, for others it's when the tree is dormant (probably in the middle of winter) when there is no sap or moisture to support fungal growth and the cut can harden before those diseases begin to grow in warmer weather.

There is no one size fits all in pruning unless you don't really care if the plant dies or doesn't produce.

My father has been pruning his apple trees like the one above for many decades as he was taught by his parents and grand parents and I have been pruning mine the same way for over 20 years.  It may be the wrong way or we have gotten lucky all these years but it works for us.

Our apple trees had so many apples this past season that we had to give many 5 gallon buckets away so they didn't go to waste.

Right or wrong it has worked for us.

  5. Think I would be feeling buggy all the time if I worked there!!

I have a Nikon Coolpix S8200. I have to take about 15 pics to get a few clear close ups.Seems to always want to focus on something else, or I shake to much, or the wind was blowing .....

    That's the problem Bon....

When you want to take close up photos or night time photos you should use a tripod and an off camera or remote shutter release trigger or the timer shutter release that your camera has built in to it.

When taking close ups or night photos (without going into all the technical settings and terms) the camera will pick up all the movement of you trying to hold the camera and give blurry/out of focus photos.

  6. Here's how we make ours....

1 pound hamburger, 1 pound pork country/sweet sausage, 2 cups cooked rice, sauteed onions and garlic(lots of garlic), black pepper, and chopped fresh parsley.

Mix all together and form into a loaf then wrap the loaf in bacon.

Cook at 350 to 160 degree internal temp.

We use ketchup, honey, real maple syrup, and a touch of cinnamon for the glaze.

  7. This is what I was thinking of trying to make. Maybe not in my lifetime but hopefull others could enjoy it after I am gone.

My grandmother passed at a young 92 years old and my father is now 75 and he said grandma talked about canning jelly and juice before my dad was born so that arbor has been there over 75 years. In my near 50 years I can remember rebuilding it twice.

As far as I can remember those are the original purple grape vines except for the white grape vines that we planted when I was a teenager.

  8. My fathers has a grape arbor that is six 6x6 posts with frame work built on top. Its dimensions are about 16'x16' - 7' high with a cement pad built underneath. Very easy to pick the grapes and also serves as an excellent shady place to sit under and eat outside in the Summer. He keeps them trimmed back as needed.

  9.

Old Roosters become mean, lazy and pretty much useless in old age.

They strut around yelling at all the other chickens trying to tell them how to think, talk and feel.

At this point Old Roosters need butchered.

    ;)

    You're terrible Dogg!!! LMAO!!! :2fun:

Let the sleeping Rooster be Dogg!!  :P

  10. The floor may be level but did you check the washing machine to see if it's level??

It doesn't take much to throw these high speed front loaders out of whack.

Ours had to be dead on level both ways. Front to back and side to side.

Also depending on what kind of floor you have it on you may want/need to put the washer legs on some heavy non-slip rubber.
