Iraqi immigrant Dr. Azzam, a cardiologist specializing in interventional cardiology, and Dr. Taha, both immigrants, have been charged with two counts of felony child abuse and three counts of causing mental harm to a child. According to prosecutors, the accusations include disturbing accounts of physical violence and psychological trauma inflicted upon a child. Authorities allege that Dr. Azzam subjected a minor to a prolonged beating using a belt, causing injuries to the child’s head, back, spine, and hands.   19. Phyllis A. Utzinger, age 93 of DuBois, PA died Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at her home. Born on April 6, 1931 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Mae (Smith) Leach. On July 14, 1951 she married William H. Utzinger. He preceded her in death on May 4, 2013. Phyllis had worked at United Cerebral Palsy then Goodwill Industries for many years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist in Sykesville, and enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and loved to go camping. Phyllis, along with the husband Bill, enjoyed collecting salt and pepper shakers of all shapes and sizes and have an extensive collection. She had also loved to roller skate, but above all, she most loved her time with her family. She is survived by a son (William R. Utzinger and his wife Rosie of Oil City, PA), 3 daughters (Judy M. Fields; Wanda J. Armagost and her husband Samuel; and Kathy A. Utzinger, all of DuBois, PA), eight grandchildren (Irene, Amanda, Marita, Venessa, Stacey, Crystal, Eric, and Heather), thirteen great grandchildren (Liam, Norah, Charlie, Bear, Atticus, Arcadia, Ansen, Cohen, Hudson, Korra, Rowan, Nola, and Kendall), a brother (Vernon Leach and his wife Doris), and two sisters (Sandra Hatten and her husband Norman, and Donna Ellenberger). She was preceded in death by her son in law (Ray Fields) and numerous brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.
