Trees on Main Street in Reynoldsville

The birds like them in the winter.  They almost look like a teeny Asian Pear.  What looks like a Maple Leaf in the first picture must have got stuck there from another tree.

These trees were planted extensively for years as part of the approved street tree varieties in Pennsylvania.  Them they started having major problems with huge heavy chucks of them falling off, creating a dangerous situation.  In addition they only grow for about ten years nicely then they start to degrade requiring expensive pruning (check the lollipops in Brockway) which doesn't do them any favors.

Pennsylvania no longer approves them for grants, or some of the replacement varieties of ornamental pears that were substituted earlier.  However, better, more beautiful, longer lived and healthier species will be showing up in your town when they do a tree program that requires a grant from the state.

Check out the hollow dead tree waiting to fall halfway across Maple Avenue on the right headed toward town.  That's why we need a tree program.
