lavender Posted July 29, 2013 Share Posted July 29, 2013 Just at a guess, as I have trouble identifying plants from pictures, but I'd say it was some variety of wild amaranth. It was a pain in my veggie garden when I first started it but it is all gone now so I can't go out and compare. You can eat it. The picture might be a different variety but it is close. It doesn't look like something you would want to let go to seed in your garden! Don't put it in your compost either. Different people, different parts of the country and one plant has 10 different names or 10 different plants have the same name. The taxonomic names are a little better but they keep changing them and there are a number of different systems. Plant people hardly ever know what they are talking about.
