I have lived in DuBois my whole life and always remember the cemetary being in such disaray.  When driving by I always look up..and a couple of weeks ago took a walk up.  What a remarkable difference!  EVERYONE involved should be so proud starting with the Gentleman that has been cutting the grass there for quite a few years, it was very admirable for him to take this upon himself. Thank-you ALL for your hard work and dedication!

Due to the difficulty of this job, it was decided that a professional should be hired to put the stones back on the mausoleum.  This is being done by Marty Hrin of Hrin Masonry.  The stones are all cut sandstone which would have been very costly when it was originally built.  It is a great improvement over what it has looked like for so many years.

The Church Without Walls Group helping clean up around the Child's Mausoleum on September 30, 2012

.

All the original stones are back on the Child's Mausoleum now. Marty Hrin did a beautiful job of restoring the stones. The Rumbarger Society is having the ornate iron door remade and the iron railing fence will be remade to go around the mausoleum. Next spring we will landscape the mausoleum.

Thank you Puzzler and Coyote! We are happy people are noticing the difference. We have been working on the cemetery for two years (we formed the society in 2010) and finally all the hard work is coming together. So many people in the area have helped us, especially the City of DuBois, they have been a tremendous help this year.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

DuBois is a city in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, United States, northeast of Pittsburgh. The population was 8,123 at the 2000 census. It is the principal city in the DuBois, PA Micropolitan Statistical Area.

History

Settled in 1812 and platted in 1872, DuBois was incorporated as a borough in 1881 and as a city in 1914. While DuBois was founded as a lumber town, the mining of bituminous coal quickly became the chief industry in DuBois, supporting a population of 9,375 in 1900; 12,623 in 1910; 13,681 in 1920; and 12,080 in 1940. The population was 8,123 at the 2000 census. Over the years there have been numerous unsuccessful attempts to combine the city with the surrounding Sandy Township.

The town was founded by John Rumbarger, for whom the town was originally named. The Rumbarger Cemetery is all that survives of this original settlement. The town was later renamed for local lumber magnate John DuBois, who came from a longstanding American family of French Huguenot descent.
