Pompeii reacted in Help with cats getting along
Try baby-gating off areas so that they can see eachother but not touch/fight. I have a friend who had to do this for 3 months before her new cat (who hated dogs, and actually had her 90lb Boxer & 50lb Staffie up on the top of the couch scared of her) would coexist. Now they play

Pompeii reacted to Pappy in Some new additions to our outdoor pets
A new born fawn. Mama hid her just inside the woods behind the garden. Must have known she was safe there with the dogs guarding her when they go out LOL Not sure if this is a pic of mama or not she was on other side of house. we have several does that use the property. she may have been a different mama and had her young on that side of the house. My wife was throwing some branches in the woods when she spied he hiding in the thicket behind the birds nest with eggs. They will be new additions also pretty soon. If you look down the middle of the garden and alittle to the left beside a tree at the edge of the woods you can just make out a scrubby looking bush. The eggs are in there and the fawn just a few feet further in.

WAIT...I missed THE most important argument for the wiener dog. SHE can easily do the work of THREE males...union or otherwise.

Pompeii got a reaction from Bon in Kittens shipped to Cable Company
Kittens Packed Into Cardboard Box, Shipped to Cable Company
Two newborn kittens are recovering at a Humane Society facility after they were accidentally packed into a cardboard box in Los Angeles and shipped to a cable company in San Diego.
A veteran warehouse employee at a Cox Communications office in San Diego discovered the vagrant kittens April 4 after opening up a fiberglass delivery from Hollywood, Calif., according to Kelli Schry, a spokeswoman for the San Diego Humane Society.
The employee contacted the Humane Society, which arranged to have the tiny kittens rushed to its nursery. They now receive constant attention and bottle feeding every two hours, Schry said.
"We have the only 24-hour kitten nursery. Most shelters don't have staff operating around the clock," Schry said. "It was pretty lucky they ended up in San Diego."
It was not immediately clear how the kittens got into the shipment box, although Schry said the Humane Society staff "assumes the mother cat was looking for a safe place to keep her newborn kittens, and it's quite possible she placed the kittens in the box."
She said it's miraculous the fur balls, which a nurse named "Mouse" and "Wifi," survived the 126-mile voyage.

Pompeii reacted to Eastman in A couple of interesting pictures from Falls Creek
I have been doing a lot of sorting through stuff at my late in-laws house since their passing last month and ran across these interesting copies of pictures and a newspaper article.
Downtown Falls Creek with a dirt Main Street and a LOT of buildings.
The Falls Creek Tannery workers and dried hides.
Bringing the old smokestack down at the Tannery. It took 45 sticks of dynamite to bring the 150 foot tall stack with walls of 4 feet 9 inch thick at the base down.

Pompeii reacted to conservativeman633 in 1905 DHS
While reading a 1905 "Morning Courier" from DuBois I ran across the very first track meet to every happen at DHS. It was at the Driving Park in May. we won. The hammer was thrown. No Javelin or discus. The "running broad jump" event went 19 feet. The "running high jump" went 4' 11.5 " The pole vault went 8' 1" The Athletic Association" at the school put it on. The coach was "Bob" Reed. Our biggest winner was a "J. Harrington" who took 4 firsts. Schools attending were DuBois, Reynoldsville, ridgeway, and Clearfield. DuBois scored 58 out of a possible 101 points. "Patchell" of DuBois won the mile in 5:38. Harrington threw the shot 35'
By 1906 all the locker rooms were at the driving Park, and the teams would celebrate with a dance at the pavilion there, after the meet.
