  1. That is a matter for each club to decide. Obviously it would be best for it to be all vets and immediate family who understand the demands of military service. The more they earn, the more they can do, but the building itself is expensive to maintain. I think the bartenders, cooks and maintenance people are all employees. They provide quite a few services to the community but in my opinion, they need to encourage the vets and provide all opportunities for the vets to be their very best so they get a lot more out of their lives. I also feel that the state should be MUCH more in attendance at the clubs and participate in meetings, events and especially when there are problems.
  2. All of the nerve diseases are dietary. Some nutrients are missing because they're not in the food that they are supposed to be in, others, people don't like to eat them as much, and yet others, such as sugar and flour, block the nutrients from being absorbed. The only answer is to take good quality nutrients meant to treat the lack of that nutrient in your body. One recent study on D3+K2 is showing amazing results. Most diseases have some kind of a link to that specific combination of nutrients.
  3. The Social Members are the problem, not all of them, but some view the club as a social drinking club, which it is NOT! These social members spend a lot of money there at the bar which supports the projects of the club, but they also are prone to causing a lot of trouble. A few wouldn't necessarily be a problem, but there are more social members than Vets who use the building. Many vets won't go there because there is nothing to do but drink, and many of them don't smoke which is offensive. The Social Hall is huge but they rarely get an event because it stinks of smoke, so no money is earned from a major asset that they could offer. Habit has led them to depend on the bar and gambling for easy money, but that shouldn't be the case. Sorry, but drinking, smoking and gambling aren't the best builders of progress for the veterans. When the bar becomes more important than serious Vet activities, then it's time to close it or create some serious rules in a military fashion. Hopefully this time the state will be more pro-active in determining what the goals should be. I agree with Sgt Rick. It should be a haven for the vets, calm enough to let a kid visit from time to time, but safe enough to do its best and strong enough for any vet in need of anything!
  4. Excellent! I thought I remembered them as bricks but what is there is correct! I'm glad they valued them enough to take the time to save and reset them.
  5. As long as they want their decisions to be legal and not challenged, they do. The IRS loves any financial decision made without the members' knowledge.
  6. Member fell and got hurt. Police gave him a ride to the hospital but that was Thursday.
  7. You got it! When the post voted to stop indoor smoking, the drinkers stopped coming. I suspect it was to pressure the post to open the smoking again which happened. Unfortunately, the state finally stepped in, as they did before, and shut it down till they sort out the nonsense. If it isn't going to serve the vets better who don't drink and smoke , then it doesn't need to exist at all.
  8. You are absolutely correct! Biggest hoax of the century.
  9. Check out the accidents that have been involved in self-driving cars. They get covered up or "lost" in the news services pretty quickly.
  10. I think everyone in this town has been trained over the years to not open their mouths. First, it has been a waste of breath, second, everyone is so entrenched in secrecy that you have no idea who is on which side, and the side of justice has been closed also! If you have a job at which you could spread news, then you would have had your boss, other employees and outside sources to deal with. At the wage paid locally, you can't afford to lose your job, especially if it's in Journalism. All the local news sources are connected and in the same boat. How are they to sort out news when it's so deep underground that no one else knows it.
  11. God opened a door for her! Blessings!
  12. Agriculture today in a huge industry turning out many more emissions and chemicals than in previous centuries. I'm not knocking farmers, but the demand for corn and soybeans is driving the toxic chemical use, not food crops. They are used for industrial materials, not food. Food farmers, particularly organic food farmers, are more restricted in what chemicals they can use, and are constantly being training in better growing practices. It all needs sorted out because one is not equal to the other.
  13. They originally came from Kohlhepps. Also. on top of the wall beside the steps. donors were asked to buy a stone engraved with their name. Where did they go?
  14. I suspect the city was trying to stop the opening of this drug treatment clinic. It's like people who have gotten themselves addicted to medical drugs aren't entitled to a doctor of their own. Most people would be tolerant of addicts who shared the waiting room or a doctor, but some wouldn't, and addicts probably don't want to be seen going into a clinic of that sort. This is a very good doctor who has dedicated his career to treating addicts and leading them to drug freedom. Since the Courier, to my knowledge, hasn't dealt with the story, the Altoona Mirror did, and said that the doctor won to the tune of many thousands of dollars which the city will now have to cough up. Where does that money come from?
  15. Can you imagine the backlash for anyone who seconded that motion? I suspect they're all scared for their lives!
  16. I would also like to know why the healthy tree in front of the Handicapped Parking spaces at the Rose Alley (Luigi's) parking lot was removed, and where did the large stones from there go?
  17. Well, I think the writing is on the wall for United Way. Think of all the organizations they have heled in the past.
  18. Almost every Americans pH level is off in their body which predisposes it to disease through gut bacteria imbalances. Get your gut working right, and you can be almost disease free as you age.
  19. Even garden clubs are required to keep their books in proper order. Ours is audited every month so at the end of the year, it's all ready to go. Every credit or debit must have a Voucher with all receipts, checks, names and a full explanation of where the money went or came from attached. These regulations are part of the terrorism laws so that money can't be channeled to illegal sources. Ummmm........
  20. They have to interlock some way because that was all fill behind the wall which will move. I'm more curious about the crooked spot in the wall on the left that they say isn't there.
  21. Question? From the embankment there should have been a LOT of interlocking wall blocks, plus the bricks that people donated with their names on them. Where did they go? They were not trash.
  22. I'll check it when we go through to our daughter's house. Thanks.
