you didn't trip....the floor just needed a hug! (and your dog just wanted to say hi! *slurp*)

Ouch! That would be like tripping over a footstool. Much worse than something taller. As you might guess, I am an expert on tripping due to not turning on lights and other curious reasons.

At least they aren't black. There is nothing quite like having a black dog and trying to stumble around in the dark.

Weenies come in an array of colors. Most people have red, black, black & tan, red & black, & blonde. Then there are pie balds...lots of colors for them.
Weenies come in smooth, long haired, & wire haired. We have only had smooth.
We once had a blonde weenie..never again!!! She was like the stupidest dog we ever had!!

lavender got a reaction from junk in Bugs, Blight..........
Late blight can survive in organic materiel in the soil over winter so be sure to clean up all garden debris especially tomatoes and related plants such as potatoes. There are weeds in the same family that will harbor the blight so clean those up as well. It will not survive in the soil without host material.
There is nothing you can put in the soil and the sprays will prevent blight but not cure infected plants. They have to be destroyed.
It can come in on infected plants or via air currents which is probably how we are getting it.
Ran across this while looking for the turducken recipe. It might come in handy if you actually get an elk. I

Right now the Rose of Sharon are in bloom. If you look carefully you will see a number of these plants around DuBois that have pink, blue and white flowers on the same plant. They are examples of this type of grafting.

You should see the stuff left at Marie Laveau's tomb in New Orleans. People also mark it with these weird little x's.

Usually handpicking them is sufficient to keep them under control. Look for the white eggs on the leaves and destroy those too. They pupate and spend the winter in the soil so a fall plowing helps. If you have any member of the Solanacae family as weeds, like henbane, get rid of them. They are susceptible to Bacilliuc thuringiensis if you want a non chemical control. I haven't seen one in years except for the one someone brought me in a jar. Ugly aren't they?

They are so beautiful. I always do a double take when I see one. They seem too exotic for our area.
