  1. I do the same as snellma. If you want to freeze stuffed peppers, you have to cook them first. I tried freezing them stuffed but not cooked and they were awful.
  2. I had picked some green tomatoes because most of the plants and tomatoes got it. Out of about a dozen tomatoes, only half are going to make it for now. I ended up with one red one. Hate to see the price of tomatoes and anything made with them. Same goes for potatoes. Does anyone know how the potatoes are doing. My neighbor's got hit, at least the plant above ground. Don't know how the actual potato will be.
  3. that is so neat. I would like a plant like that too. Where can you get one? I am the one that had the gold fish pic up before. It is not blooming as well as it did a month ago. Must be going into hibernation.
  4. block....I would like to have some of the seeds if you are going to harvest them.
  5. I have more if anyone wants any. I also have some calendula seeds. Pm me your address and I will send them to you. Tell me what ones you want.
  6. Sounds like a good idea to me. I need more green beans.
  7. so did I. they are all right next to each other.
  8. I actually bought seeds today for next year. I am planting more flowers than I have ever had. Hubby will just have to put up with it. Snellma....did your moonflowers grow?
  9. our tub surround was awful. I decided to try lysol gel toilet bowl cleaner. I squirted it on and then took a brush and scrubbed. I left it on about a half hour and rinsed it off. It was whiter than I have ever seen it.
  10. Snellma's Hot Pickled Cauliflower 2 large garlic cloves, peeled, halved, and lightly crushed 10-12 small dried hot red chilies, broken into halves 1 tbs pickling spice 1 1/2 lbs carrots 3 medium onions 2 medium green bell peppers 2 large heads cauliflower 6 1/4 cups water 2 1/2 cups white wine vinegar 1/4 cup coarse salt Place a half clove of garlic, a fourth of the dried chilies, and 3/4 teaspoon of pickling spice into 4 (1qt) canning jars. Cut carrots in half lengthwise and then cut crosswise into 2 inch pieces. Cut onions into 1 inch squares. Seed bell peppers and cut into 1 inch squares. Break cauliflower into flowerettes. Divide carrots, onions, bell peppers, and cauliflower equally among the jars, packing tightly. IN a medium size pan, bring water, vinegar, and salt to a boil over high heat; then pour evenly over vegetables. Put lids on jars and let cool. Refrigerate for at least 2 weeks before serving. The pickled mixture will keep in the refrigerator almost indefinitely. I put pepperocinni peppers and hot hungarian peppers in mine instead of the chilies.
  11. I am not sure. If you let some of the seeds fall in the pot, I don't know why it shouldn't. I never planted mine in a pot.
  12. They will reseed theirselves if you don't get to the pods. I take some pods off and leave a bunch. If you don't pull the plant up, it will also come up again next year. I have had one plant for quite a few years. A neighbor gave me seeds that I started it from.
  13. vp, I am glad to see that your moonflower has grown for you. Mine blooms most of the day too but it is also in the shade. If anyone needs any seeds, pm your info. I should have plenty again this year.
  14. I know they make me happy looking at them. They are so pretty and amazing. If you ever got a free packet of poppies in the mail for one thing or another, these are what they are. I didn't order them. I think I might have got them from the AARP.
  15. Thank you. I love all the different colors. I didn't put my seeds in until June sometime. I wasn't sure if they were going to grow or not. I have pink, white/red, red, and an orange one.
  16. I have no idea, Petee. I got the seeds free in the mail. I guess I should save some of the seeds, just in case.
  17. I want to thank VP for the calendula seeds she sent me. The orange flowers are calendulas. The big white flower is the moon flower. The rest are poppies. I didn't think poppies came in different colors. I actually had an orange one.
