I work in the new Penn Highlands Bldg across the street and have been watching the work going on at Rumbarger. It looks beautiful over there!! I can tell that a lot of hard work is going on! Great job to everyone involved!!
My cukes are doing really well so far. Tomato plants are getting huge and have big green tomatoes on them, none ripening yet though. My candy onions and spring onions are doing really well. My peas and beans weren't planted thick enough by my helpful grandfather and so aren't producing much. Zucchini and yellow squash are coming on strong. My pepper plants, both jalapeno and green, look sad.....
To this day, my mother will swear that the Christmas eve of 78 storm was my father's fault. That was my first Christmas and my dad ranted for weeks about having to have snow for my first Christmas. Needless to say, it snowed. I unwrapped presents in my snows it because we had no power! In or house, saying we have to have snow for Christmas is a sin.
You have all my sympathy. I still hurt sometimes from the loss of my first kitty "brother", Nate. I know how hard it is to lose a member of your fur family. I will never understand how anyone could say it is "just" a cat or a dog. If you truly love and care for an animal, there is no way it cannot become a part of your loving family.
Please know that my thoughts are with you and your family today as you send your loved one over the Rainbow Bridge.

We made Cake Mix ones this year.
I used:
One boxed cake mix, choose flavor
1 stick butter, melted
2 eggs
We did chocolate mix with choc chips. We also did yellow mix with mini cinnamon chips and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar on top. Those turned out like a snickerdoodle and the chocolate ones are almost like brownie bites! I will never make regular cookies again!!!
I have a recipe that is very similar to this, only it also includes 2 hard-boiled eggs. I know the eggs and tuna sound less that appitizing together, but it really is yummy!!!!
When my mom worked at DuBois Nursing Home, they would often see the shadow figure of an old man on the security camera in the front entrance area. They would be sitting at the desk and all of a sudden, there he was. He always appeared to be leaning against one of the walls of the entryway. He would appear at different times of day and night and never in exactly the same place. It was as if he was just hanging out there, waiting for someone to come pick him up or something.
I know when he left the show, he was really struggling in his personal life. I hope he is found safe and is able to get some help. I have to see anyone struggling that way and, given my own recent loss in that manner, my heart breaks for Brian's friends and family.
Mine all have blossom end rot!!!! Off of two plants that have ripened, I think I got 6 that didn't rot!
But on a good note, I found out what is causing it and am hoping to fix the problem on the plants that haven't ripened yet!!!
You probably left the green beans get too big. That's usually when they start to get tough and get that grassy taste. They also tend to get a lil fuzzy when they get bigger. This year, try picking them when they are similar in size to a pencil, only a little shorter. I think you'll like them better at that size! Good luck!!!
