Must be a downy woodpecker, from the description. But it seems bigger than 6-7 inches.

I have two woodpeckers coming to my suet cakes. They are not the pileated ones, but they are rather large, black and white, with a red head. probably about 8-10 inches tall. anyone know what they are?

I am going to be waging war with the squirrels that are invading my bird feeders. I have 4 that are "squirrel proof" and the little b@#$%rds still find a way to empty them out. They're already the size of a cocker spaniel and I've had enough!

I've read this before, but it still brings a little tear to the eye.

All my bushes got hit hard this winter. I don't think I'm going to get any of them back. Two huge Holly bushes, 2 Rhododendron, flowerig crab. All of them....sucks.

There's also an old tale about there being a "Headless Horseman" in the Drauker's Woods area
