  1. The Aviary is fun but I could get lost in Phipps (literally, I get lost in there, the place is a maze). So nice in the winter when it's warm and steamy inside.
  2. Oh no, not another live webcam, I got so addicted to the bear. That's a big bird.
  3. That was cool. Wonder if anyone on this board is related to any of those people?
  4. They sell light boxes on eBay. For me, I have been craving grapefruit, eating 2 a day. Those little suckers sure are expensive though. I got a seed catalog in the mail yesterday, yay!
  5. My mom nearly, and I mean very nearly, burned our house down burning pampas grass We just cut ours with electric hedge trimmers - my husband likes to do it actually, he thinks it's ugly and seems to enjoy "killing it" but of course it comes back every year.
  6. That's what I'm eating right now, a big pink-red tomato and cherries and smokehouse almonds - yum - of course it is someone else's home grown goodies because my garden was a massive fail. We were in Butler and stopped at a farmer's market and they had the best (and cheapest) stuff - we got a bottle of cherry-apple cider and it is the best stuff I ever tasted, but we only got a little bottle and it's gone and I don't live near Butler
  7. I have been trying to learn more about ornamental grasses...my understanding is that some of them grow in neat clumps and need to be split like pampas (though I have never split my pampas grass ) and others spread by root and the new shoots need to be pulled up if unwanted (like my blue festuca). Correct?
  8. Semi-tame? The last time my husband was there a deer stuck his head in the window of his car...a duck sat next to him on his tools..not so sure about the "semi"
  9. You're in TL, right? I think we will plant nothing but ornamental grasses. I like them and I know the deer won't eat them. I've never had any luck with hostas even here - slugs. I've salted them, beered them, poisoned them..nothing works.
  10. After all of my seedlings died I planted tomato seeds from the freebies forum (pack of Campbell's tomato seeds), I thought it would be really cool to have Campbells tomato soup tomatoes. The seeds grew, too! Except they weren't tomato seeds, they were leaf lettuce seeds. I give up.
  11. I have a pumpkin and I tried tomato seeds in a flower box one more time, I used the Campbells seeds from the free stuff forum. The rest of my failed garden sits in a dumped over pile of potting soil under my tree
  12. Right in front of a window with the shade halfway down and a lace curtain to filter the light...and in front of a heater vent too LOL. I probably could have grown orchids
  13. Thank you - we got the replacement pet, a gerbil, for my kid because I am a sucker - Ginger the gerbil. She's actually kind of cute
  14. It was hot in there, you could put your hand down in and feel it. Lesson learned
  15. I left my terrarium lid on too long and basically everything but the soybean and the tomatoes got fungus and fell over and died
  16. I needed a laugh today...I think the porn filter got both of you
  17. No, no more kitties for now, I looked at a few at PetSmart yesterday and they just don't compare. We picked out the gerbils
  18. Our sweet bobtail & my sink sleeper Bo "Bocephus" 3/05/2008 - 3/13/09, killed on the blind turn in the road I was so afraid of. We only had him for four fun months. He was all heart covered in fur and is irreplaceable, we are getting a hamster bo_rip_2006.bmp
  19. My seeds are coming along slowly. My daughter planted one soybean and it is huge. Go figure
  20. All of my herbs are up except for the mint and there is just no sign of it. The seeds were practically microscopic and I couldn't see what I was doing so hopefully I covered them up with soil.
  21. Maybe the very relaxed cats that hang out in your yard eat your grape tomatoes
  22. My lettuce, chives and catnip are up. They seem to be very happy in the space ball terrarium.
  23. DONE! Whew. They had better produce, or else.
  24. I had no idea where I was going to start my plants this year and my husband said "You know, I think there is a terrarium up in the attic..." Check it out! My computer is on life support and I can't upload pictures so this is from the net but it is exactly the same. I have seen reproductions but Grandma says this one is older than me. It's so ugly it's cool terrarium_671.bmp
  25. BA HA HA! We were over at the "new house" yesterday and I pointed to the corner of the yard and said to my husband "That's where the pot garden goes!" and he raised an eyebrow...
