  1. To all of you kind DuBoisians.  Rusty has been found!!  At dusk last night I returned to the location where I last saw him.  I encountered a gentleman walking by the road and told him my predicament.  He said, “There is a lady at the top of the hill with what looks like an orange & white Cocker Spaniel”.  I hot footed it to the top of the hill and there was Rusty in the back of her SUV playing with her children.  WOW!  Rusty is now in his home and none the worse.  Again, thank you all for your kind expressions and advice. You are the best!!

  2. Basset3:  Thank you for the suggestion.  I am posting everywhere I can think of or hear about.  I am very worried.  This dog is still a pup... 13 months.  Wants to meet and play with all other creatures and the Game Lands has coyotes.

  3. Help! My year old Brittany disappeared today. We were hunting on the Pennsylvania State Game Land 77 near DuBois, Pa. Because he is still a pup he hangs close to me. He followed a scent into a wooded area. I called him and then used the buzzer on his collar. I heard him yelp and now he is gone. I do not have a pic but he is 40 pounds, orange & white typical Brittany, My phone number and the word REWARD is on his collar. Help. I have waked the area along Game Land Rd near the big power line.  If anyone has a tip please respond here

  4. This is a subject that I have posted in the past.  Is there any public transportation available in the DuBois/Treasure Lake area?  UBER? LYFT? Ride offers?  I need to deliver a vehicle to a repair shop on the Bee Line.  Then will need transportation back to my house in Treasure Lake.  I am willing to pay for the service.  Day and time is flexible. PM appreciated.       I am too old and ugly to hitchhike.  Likely would starve before anyone would pick me up.  Sigh!

  5. Are there any owners of Jeep Model TJ in the 1990 to about 2001 on this forum?  I am looking for a mechanic/repair garage who is familiar, even proficient in repairing these older Jeeps.  A PM may be the most efficient reply.

    Thank you

  6. On the subject of social members.  Been thinking about this today.  These folks are SOCIAL members which means they are not veterans.  By not having spent years in the military they have little or no experience with rules, regulations and the expectations of others.  In short, many are undisciplined.

Is there some minimum amount of income a VFW must generate to pressures the Officers of the club at accept nonveterans?

    thanks for your service !!!

Thank you for remembering.  All that was such a long time ago.  First enlistment in 1962 at age 17.  When I look at this country now, I don't think I would do it again. Sigh

  8. The current VFW's and AM Legion, perhaps even the AmVets is discouraging.  When I was a boy, my uncle - a pilot in WWII - would take me along with him to the Am Leg and the VFW.  I would get an orange pop and wander around the club.  My memory is that there was more to those clubs than a bar with less expensive booze.  There were locations set aside where members and guests could sit in comfortable chairs and read the news papers, or just sit quietly.  It was a place JUST FOR VETERANS.  In my adult life these clubs have permitted so-called "social members" to crowd in for the bar.  No more exclusiveness for veterans who earned the right to have their own club.  It has been years since I was in any of them.  By the way, I am retired military.  Marines in the early 60's with a year at Danang, later 3 years as a weapons instructor for a Navy Seabee Bn, some years in various Nat'l Guard units, I retired when I came home from Desert Storm/

  9. There are a couple neighborhood cats (feral??) who have decided that our tulip bed is an excellent toilet.  Soil is soft and easily moved.  Unfortunately, in the process they have dug up quite a few spring bulbs.  Has anyone experienced this?  Is there a remedy other than replanting in what has now become a septic field?
