Yes you are right about strange things going on there Marine. I personally watched a little boy walk beside the couple ahead of us and no one had brought their children.  ??) In another instance, a member on here was sitting in her suv waiting for us to get back from the walk through the tunnels, when she heard a child giggling around her car but there were no children anywhere near that area.
  3. THANK YOU

These are stories from my area, Camp Mt Run. I used to be told these scary stories while camped out as a boy scout there years ago.

In the mid-1800's. two brothers were traveling through the thickly forested woodland in Clearfield County. Presumably they were coming from the Brockway area and heading toward Clearfield, the county seat. In the afternoon, the two brothers and their dog stopped outside present day Penfield to eat lunch. They tied up their horses and sat under a tree. While they were eating, two men approached; It was the sheriff and one of his men. They accused the two brothers of being horse thieves. The sheriff strung up a noose and proceeded to hang the older brother; The younger brother was still claiming that they didn't do it. He began to scream for help. Their white dog started to go crazy and ran off into the woods. Meanwhile the other officer attached the boy's horses to his wagon to help carry the bodies back to Clearfield. Before the younger brother was hung, he said that his horses would never carry his body across the bridge. After finishing their business, the officers were on their merry way back to Clearfield. Soon they were upon the bridge {east of present day Penfield} that the younger brother had mentioned. As soon as they reached the bridge, the horses stopped. The sheriff cracked his whip to no avail. The horses would go no farther. The sheriff, and his man had to- remove the bodies from the wagon and walk the horses across the bridge. Then, they carried the bodies across the bridge. As they did this, they heard a loud howl. They looked around, then spotted the white dog up on a hill staring right at them... At least that's how Camp Ranger Charlie Snyder told the story. Charlie Snyder was considered by many as a master storyteller. He and many others have reported of sightings of the white dog, who is supposedly still wandering the area which is now Mountain Run. Mr. Snyder also told of a far greater danger that lurks of the lower part of the Brockway watershed and the upper part of Mountain Run. This is the nefarious Hodag. The Hodag lives in what is called Spook Hollow. No one really knows for sure what the beast looks like. Some sources say it.resembles a large bear that walks erect. Others say it looks like a cross between a huge horse and a moose. However, reports say that it has large piercing red eyes. It is said that at the end of the Spook Hollow trail there is a treasure of some kind that the Hodag guards. It could possibly be a shipment of gold that was being transported through the area during the Civil War. It was lost somewhere near or in Elk County. Besides problems from the Hodag, a would-be fortune hunter also faces the Devil's Racetrack. This is an area which is located deep in the woods past the gas line and presumably off the Camp's property. {No one knows for sure if a person wanders into the wooded impasse, he supposedly becomes trapped because everything looks the same from all sides. Once the poor soul starts to panic, the old guy himself, the Devil, shows up and chases the person around. He eventually overtakes his prey and kills it.

The tragedy of Hatchet Hands is like that of the Phantom of the Opera. He was born without hands. In order for him to be of some use, his parents shoved axes where his hands should have been. Since his parents didn't really love him, Hatchet Hands longed for affection from others. He often tried to hug people, not realizing what would happen when he put his arms (axes) around people. Many other stories are also told. They include a lost miner. This "Drifter" wanders around the woods. He pops up every so often to bother but not really harm people. It is also rumored that hill people who hate Boy Scouts live in the hills of the Brockway watershed.

Bigfoot believers gather at annual retreat
CHAUTAUQUA, N.Y., OCTOBER 24, 2015 (AP) ------ Bigfoot believers have gathered in western New York and some insist the legendary Sasquatch's footprint is getting bigger.
About a hundred people gathered at Saturday's Chautauqua (shuh-TAH'-kwuh) Lake Bigfoot Expo to swap stories and hear expert lectures. The event is being held at a campsite not far from the Chautauqua Institution, renowned for its annual summer lineup devoted to scholarly pursuits.
Founder Peter Wiemer says the expo started as a tourist draw, but he's since met dozens of people who are certain they've seen Bigfoot in the area -- far from the creature's usual suspected range in the Pacific Northwest.
He's now enough of a devotee that he's tried to get New York to put Bigfoot on its list of endangered species.
The state's response? There's no need to protect a "mythical animal."                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      http://www.wjactv.com/template/inews_wire/wires.national/305b85c7-www.wjactv.com.shtml#.VixxHo1dGUm

When I moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina for six months for my job...the small house I'd rented, had activity that led to an experience I'll not soon forget.  Mind you, I've not told many people about this...never even told my spouse or family about it....but if its a real ghost/poltergeist/paranormal experience you want to read about, then read on.

I'd rented a cute little 3 bedroom stilt/pier bungalow that sat right on NC 12 as you head north to Duck and Corolla.  It was but 10 minutes from the store, so it was perfect.  The price was right too so I rented it sight unseen.  It was a temporary rental, for the winter months.   I moved in, alone.  My husband and I had decided that I would do the six months that was required of me, and if we made it a permanent move, we'd find a permanent residence.

From the get go, I was not comfortable in the house.  I felt like I was being watched.  Upon returning to the house, I'd check every door and window, every closet.  I didn't know if I were looking for someone who was trying to break in, or something else.  But I couldn't stop doing that.  I HAD to check the whole house.  EVERY time.  I'd tried to write if off to living there all by myself, with no neighbors, because it was the off season, and no one was in any of the other homes, that were all vacation rentals....but that wasn't it.

I never slept well either.  I'd wake up in the middle of the night, toss and turn and try to get back to sleep.......it almost felt like someone did not want me in that house.

Then one night, it happened.   I was awakened from sleep by the sensation of a hand on my throat.  My first thought was someone had broken in, and I was in serious trouble....I knew where the light switch was on my nightstand, and I summoned all my strength, and threw myself, (literally) out of the bed, bounced off the wall, and hit the light switch on, as I came up.  There was NO ONE in the room....NO ONE.  I went in to the bathroom and looked in the mirror, sure enough, there were marks on my neck, that looked like a hand....

I went out to my living room, and got a white sage smudge that I had, and sea salt.  Lit the sage, and enclosed myself in a salt circle, and lit a single white candle.    I then addressed whomever it was, that I meant them no harm, and if they were upset with my being in the house, that I would leave, and to give me a sign if that's what they wanted, but I also  I told them I would not be living there very long, and that I wasn't going to change the house, or hurt the house, and that I liked it too, that it was pretty, and I could understand why they were protective of it, that I would be too.  I asked them to please leave, and not hurt me again.  I then prayed like I'd never prayed in my whole life.  This went on for about an hour or so......

Then, just like that, it felt like something 'lifted' off the whole house....the atmosphere was calmer, pleasant, and warmer.  I was able to sleep perfectly for the remainder of my time there....and I stopped checking all the closets and such upon coming home from work.  Not long after several guests from PA came down to visit for a few days, and all of them said what a wonderful little house it was.

Sadly the job did not pan out, and I ended up coming back home......in spite of the frightening event, I was sad to leave that little house.....I actually cried when I did leave, and I thanked that prior owner (my own conclusion based upon the whole experience) for allowing me to live there.

I have been extremely sensitive to activity ever since.......

The little house on NC 12 is still there, and is a vacation rental.... and I'll give the name to anyone who would like to stay there.

Like I said at the beginning, this is the first time I've ever really told this story....didn't even tell my husband, or anyone else in my family..don't know why...just never did.....
