  1. I got a rose bush for Mother's Day and it is so amazing. Some flowers are coral pink and some are orange and it just keeps blooming and blooming.
  2. I like how "caring for your community" changed to "turning on a person in your community" in a heartbeat.
  3. Maybe a volunteer secretary could call the last names on the headstones to see if their children or grand children want to help take care of their cemetery.
  4. If you jog or ride your bike around the curve by Keller Brother's Dry cleaning you are taking your life into your hands. There is NO room between the cars and the curb as you head towards Sheetz.
  5. 2007: http://www.americantrails.org/resources/fedfund/MakeRTPwork.html The demand for projects is very heavy in Pennsylvania. Last we received 67 applications with a total project cost of over $6.5 million and requesting over $4.1 million in grant funds. We were able to fund 39 of those projects. Pennsylvania is very fortunate in that we received slightly more than $1.0 million in federal TEA21 funds for the Recreational Trails Program. Last year the Pennsylvania State Legislature also gave the program another $1.0 million to fund recreational trails projects. As a result, we were able to provide over $2.0 million for Recreational Trails Projects. The Legislature has provided another $1.0 million for the current grant round as well. Another exciting event in Pennsylvania is the new Growing Greener funding program, which will provide adding funding for the planning, acquisition and development of all types of conservation and recreation projects, including recreational trails. This new initiative will actually allow us to expand the scope of recreational trail projects that can be funded. Trail organizations will now be eligible to apply for planning or feasibility studies, which is currently not allowed under the federal Recreational Trails program.
  6. That reminds me....the stocking truck comes through DuBois tomorrow.
  7. The flower bulbs planted beside the bench on the walkway were poking out this afternoon.
  8. My mom was child #12 out of 13. One of the oldest boys was in WWII when she was only 12 years old and she wrote him a letter and he wrote back.
  9. It looked just like this only huge. It was so pretty.
  10. I was wondering what time of year would be the best to replace our tree. It was a flowering hibiscus and it just split down the middle and died. I'm not sure what we will replace it with but something about the same size.
  11. That's what I'm doing now. At Sears it's $19.99 and in four or five months I've barely made a dent.
  12. I bet most people don't remember that the building that the Social Security office used to be in was the DuBois Post Office before that.
  13. Here is the laundry soap thread.
  14. I got my first butterfly today! I don't know what kind it is though.
  15. My friend with the white one sent me a video saying that you have to cut them when they are just starting to turn brown so the seeds don't get in any waterways. And you have to burn the seeds and not put them in your compost. I had no idea.
  16. I bought one of the ones that I saw at Lowe's. I loved the dark purple. My friend in Memphis said he could only find white ones and another friend said she could only find light purple or magenta ones.
  17. I saw purple ones in front of Lowe's a few days ago just covered with butterflies.
  18. Those ARE beautiful. I never saw one of those before.
  19. This picture is when he is happy and the picture below it is when he sees the blue jay...lol!
  20. LOL! Bigfoot needs to dye the back of his head red or something for the Community Days parade. Does he want to just look like every other big foot out there? lol!
  21. I keep moving my trail cam around and today I put it on the birdfeeder. This guy is quite the acrobat. ;D
  22. Great story about Chief Iron Tail.... http://manycoups.net/PUFFS%20FROM%20THE%20PEACE%20PIPE_page2.htm
  23. My mom's house had carpenter bees really bad. I remember the year they showed up and I was about 12. I showed my dad and thought he should do something about them. He didn't. After about five years there were holes drilled EVERYWHERE under the edge of their roof the whole way around their house. I was the only unfortunate one to actually get stung by one. I stepped on it and it seriously drilled a hole in the bottom of my toe. The scream I let out scared my mom half to death because I grew up with boys and got shot with a bow and arrow and pulled it out myself, and I went two weeks with my arm broken in three places until I finally got a cast so I had a high tolerance for pain. Let me tell you...that hurt like CRAZY! My mom had to get the stinger out because it was drilled in and didn't want to come out. You could see the hole it left in my toe without even trying. WD40 has a straw attached to it now for a reason...lol! Hubby shoots that in the hole if he sees one starting and the bee immediately falls out of the hole dead. It smells better than bee spray too.
