Enlighten me please...Herman's Hermits the chaos continues...

Have you read the article published today in the Courier Express from  the Solicitor?  She's defending the payment of Herms legal fees explaining the poor man didn't have a dime to his name, and his bank accounts were frozen. Yet? and that's a big yet, they weren't sure who the AG was targeting but chose to help the poor guy out?  That doesn't make sense does it?  Also they paid his legal fees "not knowing" charges were coming and extended his contract a week prior to the charges being filed?  Enlighten me also if he doesn't have a current bank account how is he cashing his pay check?  Have his bank accounts been freed up, or are they cashing a check and giving him the cash?  Are those invoices in the sealed envelopes approved without being looked at, at the council meetings?  I'm confused.

Very good points. I had to read it twice to make sure i understood it but still not sure i'm understanding her thinking. Is she looking out for the best interests of the city (like she's supposed to] or is she in so deep with Squirm trying to get a casino into her hotel that she's scrambling now? She says she is not a criminal lawyer but rather a civil lawyer (and probably couldn't win a case anywhere other than Clearfield County} but she better have a criminal lawyer on retainer. Like i said after the council meeting when she made her infamous statement (you don't get to ask questions you get to make comments} she just needed time to come up with some fancy mumbo jumbo bullshit lawyer type of reply.

United Way acted like they had to!!! , spokes person for them spoke like she knew differently at city council or at least in interview ( she is not helping the defense at all by her flip flopped views made public ) .....what about that subpoena she got served in a clandestine lot and turned down their " REQUEST ? to appear " ???......

Do you mean Gabriel? How do you turn down a subpoena?

I would like to see the judicial process play out.  All accused need to face their accusers.  This whole area is mired down with an "Animal House" style double secret probation, where no one understands exactly what is going on and have been told even less.  The "concerned citizens" need to show their face.   The DuBois city government needs to quit acting as if they have something to hide.

Incidentally, as a DuBois resident, I voted for consolidation.

The city council and the solicitor want to give everyone the impression that they have no idea what's going on either.

  4. Just got home from tonight's city council meeting. I had heard what i'm going to say earlier today. A question was asked by a person giving the council notice that there is knowledge that the city of DuBois has paid almost 250K to Herms attorneys for his defense so far. Naturally the council would not reply because it needs to be asked in a different manner. Called the right to know. See what happens next.

I'm not defending anyone, I'm defending our judicial system.  Individuals that know the law much better than you do are put in the positions for a reason.  Let the process work itself out.  If he's guilty, he deserves to be punished.   If he's innocent, people like you deserve to give him an apology.

Are you serious? For real? And that is why individuals (the state investigators) are put into a position to find the truth no matter what they may find out. Did anyone in this area think that Herm was actually making (and spending) that much money as he was spending LEGALLY?.

And imagine that his hearing has been canceled for April 12th let's see how long this drags out

It's going to cost us taxpayers a lot of money to keep this going. His attorneys are not cheap. Yet there Herm was at the country club last night. Probably visiting with our city attorney. Just has no remorse over this.

This has been a very nice tourist  addition type activity for our area. For our area I mean Clearfield, Dubois, even Brookville. Hotels and restaurants are full. Who from the City is going to be credible at this point to step in and Help Penn State Dubois and Clearfield  County Tourist Agency host this event. Im sure the USCAA is waying this matter.  Dont be surprised that they move this event from Dubois. And that would be a shame because that is exactly the shots in the arm this area needs. Not to lose a million dollars or so business pumped in for just a week. New people need to step up.

Herma and Scarnati and the Varischettis have already profited from this

According to testimony from DuBois's Finance Officer the garbage payments went directly into the community days account which the finance officer stated the city did not review any of the community days account and were not included in the City's computerize financial system. The auditors only pulled info that was included in the computerize financial system.

Just wondering why the payment would go into that particular Herm account. Good question for me to ask at the next council meeting.

In light of recent developments, is there any possibility of the current trash contract being opened up?  The powers that be have essentially tied us to a monopoly as things stand currently.

The last time I needed to rent a dumpster for a home improvement project I was limited to using the "big company" because of my address.

That certainly brings up a good point. ALL contracts that we are bound by since he was in office should be re analyzed by someone. ( i was going to say council but you sure can't trust them now)

He is either there on a social visit or it is work related. A social visit at the ball field in the AM in March seems unlikely. Therefore it must be work related which seems inappropriate while on administrative leave. Furthermore, would anyone concerned about their own accountability make themselves so publicly visible? I doubt it.  I dont think is concerned. Which is concerning.

Well it was actually 5 PM yesterday. Still. The picture i have shows them by themselves.

  12. Well i just got back from the council meeting. Fairly large crowd. A few people spoke and just wanted to know how the council can sit there and say there is no money missing. Well where is it at then. One person asked strongly for them all to just simply resign. Another person then mentioned the watershed area and monies being taken out of there and then wondering just how safe is our water supply. The council said at the beginning there would be no replies given but rather they would consider what was being asked and then respond in a "timely" manner. Whatever that means. Then for the funny part. This woman spoke in Herms defense and wanted people to realize that all is not as it seems to money stolen. SHE is the same woman that was involved in some large money stealing out of the Pulaski club about 20 years ago. A lot of people didn't realize that. What a looney hypocrite.

Toni Cherry cannot represent Herm and the City.  She is employed by the city, and Herm would be a conflict of interest.  He will have to get his own lawyer.

I personally would not want her to defend me. His attorney is Bill Shaw (as he needs a local attorney) but his heavy hitters are a firm out of Pittsburgh. Also i'm pretty sure that after his initial arraignment his trail will take place in a federal court somewhere.

More in depth information was in the Courier Express on Tuesday? 😯

Bad enough that he is accused of stealing money from the taxpayers of the City of DuBois and the people that donated to the United Way but to steal from the donations made to the volunteer fire department that he was a long term member of shows that he has no scruples what so ever. 😡

    And an ex fire chief.
