Today Faith Marie is 1 month old. ❤️ 🙏🏻 ❤️ We are told that her odds of making it to a yr old go up if she made it to a month old. I say she has the same odds as the rest of us. When God calls us home, we go.

Doctor Hassen saved my grandson's life when he was born.  The NICU nurses are also wonderful, caring people.   And, Bon, your granddaughter is beautiful.

You are so right, they are superb!! Our son was in the NICU from Sunday till Tuesday here, then Tuesday till Saturday at Children’s in Pittsburgh. The care they gave Faith Marie was amazing!! They cried with us, laughed with us, took care of us also. All of them were wonderful including Dr Hassen.

Great picture!  Glad to hear she's doing well!
Penn Highlands NICU is superb!  One of my grandsons will be turning five in a few weeks, and if it wasn't for the efforts at the Penn Highlands NICU, he may never have made it!

I was laughing at her forehead this morning, her father has the same exact lines. 😂 Faith Marie was bright eyed & looking around at her surroundings, so her mommy decided to get pics of her forehead.

Peanut gained another 2oz this week. She is up to 4# 7oz now. She also pulled her feeding tube out this morning, but she has been taking a bottle that is equal to what she was given through the feeding tube. As long as she continues to take a bottle, she won’t need the feeding tube. 🙏🏻

As told by her mother Brandi...
So many of you have been wondering how Faith is doing. Thank you all for your thoughts prayers and support through this journey. Faith had a rough start since being brought into this world and been through more than most adults. She was born full term via c section due to being breech. Her head was under my ribs and she wouldn’t turn. When she came out she did pretty well Tuesday then on Wednesday she started having episodes of apnea. Her brain wasn’t sending signals to her lungs to breathe. She was put on a cpap then by Thursday she was placed on a ventilator. Friday we were told that she has trisomy 18, Edwards Syndrome which is a rare chromosomal defect. There is no cure, no fix, it just is. These babies have short life spans. They are lucky if they live past the first 6-9days of life.
By Saturday the ventilator was doing all the breathing for her and Deryk and I had to make a heart breaking decision. That’s not a life living on a vent for the rest of her days.
But our little girl wasn’t done fighting yet, she was not done living! The vent was discontinued, she opened her eyes and breathed! She was placed on monitors to track her oxygen, heart rate and respiration’s. We waited another week to see how she would do. No more episodes of apnea! We went through a week of education and learning how to care for once she came home. Our hope was restored! She would come home! Our Faith is now 2 weeks old and defying the odds! Our Faith is a true testimony that there is power in prayer! ❤️
I also have to say that the staff at Penn Highlands DuBois NICU and maternity are amazing people! We couldn’t have gotten this far without them! They went above and beyond their call of duty and made whatever accommodations for Faith, us and our family. They have been a God send for us and we are forever grateful to them. 💝

Wanda Lou Mileur Kaschalk, age 78, of Falls Creek, PA passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Saturday, November 17, 2018. She was born in Murphysboro, Illinois on September 25, 1940 to the late Raymond and Helen (Williams) Mileur.
After high school in Murphysboro, Wanda moved to Washington D.C. where she met and married her husband Jim on May 20, 1961. Wanda was a loving mother and the greatest of friends. She never met someone she didn't care for, a true lover of people. From Little League to Midget Football, to hunting and fishing, to coaching cheerleading and softball, she lived for her children and grandchildren and was a part of their lives completely. Even friends of her own children found a loving, nurturing mother in Wanda.
Wanda carried her hard-working farm girl upbringing into all she did. When not being a part of the lives of her children and family, she had a job; everything from making dishes at Jackson China to night watchman at Rockwell. She spent most of her career in the medical insurance field, retiring from Guardian Eldercare in 2013.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father and stepmother, Mary Ellis Mileur.  She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Jim, children Jim & wife Linda of Erie, PA, Keith & wife Laura of Surprise, AZ, Patrick of Falls Creek, Kelly & husband Gene Yochim of Erie, PA, 3 sisters, 5 brothers, 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way, and many nieces and nephew.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her dear friends Becky Nadji and Lisa Summerson.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 10 a.m. from St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant. A luncheon for family and friends will follow in the church hall.
Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery.
Memorials may be placed with Penn Highlands Hospice, 100 Hospital Avenue, DuBois, PA 15801, in honor of their compassion and caring in her final days.
On line condolences can be made to www.baronickfuneralhome.com

That dish you look forward to each year when the garden is producing. If its more than one, please feel free.
Mine used to be summer squash, sautéed in olive oil and garlic, with fresh tomatoes over penne. Now though it has to be a simple bruschetta. Artisan bread brushed with olive oil, fresh minced garlic and basil, toasted a bit, then topped with fresh chopped tomato, toasted again then topped with good Romano cheese.
