So, am I understanding this right.. the PGC has to go through private property to get to the public property?? The hunting clubs do not want to grant permission to the PGC for some reason.

Not directed to you Ignatius 😉

i, personally, would not want to piss off the PGC to much. I’ve done enough of that by naming the bears & elk that have appeared in our yard. 😁 They have more power then the PSP do. My family has always let them go through their property to get them to where they are needed.

I've been following this case and I really believe the issue is the video surveillance of the dwelling.  The camp used by members and their wives, children, grandchildren. . .  would you find this a violation of your family's privacy?  I certainly do.   Would you want the GC monitoring the weekend getaway you take with your spouse? I doubt it.

You may not currently own land that this has an effect on, but someday you might so I would be careful in what you support.

I feel if they were not hiding something they wouldn’t be fighting. Too much land being bought up and closed for private hunting.

I disagree.  A good way to increase land for hunting and recreation is to buy in groups. Everyone has a right to do so. You have much more buying power than one person alone.  Nothing has to be shady about it. I understand and respect their reasons.  They may hunt there but they also take their families there to camp.  There is no reason for constant, intrusive surveillance, especially in the off season.

We bought land for private use by our family for hunting and recreation.  We camp there 10 months a year and hunt 2 months. It is scary to think that they can come in and start videotaping us and our children without us knowing.   We follow all hunting laws, I have no concern about that.  I do however value my privacy on my own private property.

Example: you buy a hot tub and put it in your back yard in the country.  You have no neighbors.  You like to enjoy the hot tub naked.  The game commission decides to start doing video surveillance without you knowing and the area includes your hot tub.  Is this right?   Should this be allowed?

I don't support cutting up little kids. If you notice, I said the people I know who had surgery, had to wait until they were 18, as it should be. They also had extensive counseling. I was giving real life examples because you don't have any real life interactions from what I am reading. You just don't like the "idea" of trans gender and are letting it affect your peace.

There is a difference, especially in a small country town mindset.  Areas like this are full of people that are not often open to anyone different than them.

Trans kids’ treatment can start younger, new guidelines say

A leading transgender health association has lowered its recommended minimum age for starting gender transition treatment, including sex hormones and surgeries.

The World Professional Association for Transgender Health said hormones could be started at age 14, two years earlier than the group’s previous advice, and some surgeries done at age 15 or 17, a year or so earlier than previous guidance. The group acknowledged potential risks but said it is unethical and harmful to withhold early treatment.

The association provided The Associated Press with an advance copy of its update ahead of publication in a medical journal, expected later this year. The international group promotes evidence-based standards of care and includes more than 3,000 doctors, social scientists and others involved in transgender health issues.

The update is based on expert opinion and a review of scientific evidence on the benefits and harms of transgender medical treatment in teens whose gender identity doesn’t match the sex they were assigned at birth, the group said. Such evidence is limited but has grown in the last decade, the group said, with studies suggesting the treatments can improve psychological well-being and reduce suicidal behavior.

Is this where we small minded small city folks are supposed to go to get ed--uuuuu----kat--ed???

I am guessing you believe that this would be the place to send your kid for counseling.

Dr. Joel Frader, a Northwestern University a pediatrician and medical ethicist who advises a gender treatment program at Chicago’s Lurie Children’s Hospital, said guidelines should rely on psychological readiness, not age.

Frader said brain science shows that kids are able to make logical decisions by around age 14, but they’re prone to risk-taking and they take into account long-term consequences of their actions only when they’re much older.

Now this is what this liar is telling kids and parents

here is the real truth that has been settled on for years

The brain finishes developing and maturing in the mid-to-late 20s. The part of the brain behind the forehead, called the prefrontal cortex, is one of the last parts to mature. This area is responsible for skills like planning, prioritizing, and making good decisions.

I still believe treatment should be done after age 18.  I am shocked that they are moving the age up.  I hope they counseling and hormones are the only thing done and surgery held until after in most cases.

I'm not sure why you are against counseling, that you keep acting like it isn't real or valuable.  We as Americans find our own mental health care, we aren't appointed government counselors. We are free to change counselors if we don't like who we see just like with our physician.

My problem with this mid to late 20's viewpoint is that we allow marriage, voting, military service, smoking, drinking, punishments of jail time or death if found guilty, the decision to kill our baby by abortion, but now we want to say they can't make medical decisions.  Double standard.

Thank you for the conversation.  I appreciate that you google information to help you with your viewpoint. I will continue to support the lgbtq folks I know and treat them with the same respect I do anyone else. Live and let live.

How much does it cost to become a surgeon in the US?

After medical school, a graduate will enter a paid residency period to obtain their license. Residency typically lasts between 3 to 7 years. The average cost of a medical school degree is $230,296.

How many extra years does it take to become a surgeon?

How long does it take to become a surgeon? It can take at least 13 years after high school to become a surgeon. That includes four years for an undergraduate degree, four years for a medical degree, and five years for a residency.Apr 7, 2023

Now, after all that, what is the one thing that would make a person with such achievements feed drugs to a kid and cut sex organs off of a kid?????

    GREED

Again, I believe you should have to be 18.

I can't believe you just typed that.  You think this is just cosmetic surgery, amazing.

The surgery part is just that, and the families I know thought of it as the final physical end to years of a very tough and very emotional journey.  I don't mean that with disrespect. The mental, emotional and legal issues were done before the final stages of cosmetic surgery were over.  Watching the legal steps was quite interesting.

It is actually quite easy to change your name and gender on paper. I think that is one of the issues we see currently in sports but that's a whole other subject.

It is my business when I am paying for it and we are paying for it. Plus I live in this society and this society belongs to me as well as these kids and greedy doctors.

"They also had extensive counseling."??????  BY who?  The liberal schools system who is teaching kids to be cut on a daily basis. Parents who have no clue but just want to give their kids anything they want????  What do you think the chances are for someone like me to be involved in this so-called counseling?      NOT A CHANCE.    These kids. with brains that are not fully developed are put in a room with like minded people. Just what do you think these kids are hearing????  "O you poor dear, let us just pump you full of chemicals with harmful side affects and cut up your body. You will feel better when we are done"  We are the educated people with fully developed brains.

"I think what is dangerous is people hearing or reading something extreme and touting it as fact"

You are absolutely correct. It is very dangerous for these kids to be told lies by supposed highly educated professionals on a daily basis.

I have a extreme attitude against things that I know to be wrong.   You know this is wrong just as well as I do.  It's too complicated so you like so many others will just walk away and let it happen.

The Hippocratic Oath (Ορκος) is perhaps the most widely known of Greek medical texts. It requires a new physician to swear upon a number of healing gods that he will uphold a number of professional ethical standards.Sep 16, 2002

I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure. I will remember that I remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow human beings, those sound of mind and body as well as the infirm.

What are the four rules of the Hippocratic Oath?

Modern medical ethics consider four deontological principles: autonomy, justice, non-maleficence, and beneficence.

When did doctors stop taking the Hippocratic Oath?

In 1973, the US Supreme Court rejected the oath as a guide to medical ethics and practice by stating that the oath is incapable of covering the latest developments and methods of medical practice and research.

I really like the last one.  A bunch of old fuddy duds making legal decisions about something they knew nothing about.  How much slicing and dicing was going on in 1973?????
Most likely none because the fad had not started yet.

We, as Americans are paying for a lot of things that should greatly concern us. But, they don't seem to concern people.  Anti LGBTQ people grasp to this and forget about everything else going on in the world.

That you think this is a fad is quite frankly scary.  This decision is not taken lightly by the families involved.

You like to say slicing and dicing and talk about money a lot. I would hope the Drs. involved do so because they want to improve the lives of these humans. But, the medical field is full of unethical things happening daily, so I'm sure it's not always the case.

I can't speak for what kids are being told daily at school, as my youngest is 21 so I have no firsthand information on that subject that is less than 3 years old.  I can tell you that the young people I know that walked this journey were not counseled at school.  Their parents are successful career people and they are successful college graduates and their coworkers and neighbors would not know their history. As it should be.  They had wonderful support through college in 2 different states, that tells me that acceptance in many parts of the US is far better than here.

I see the humans that I have known for over 20 years, you see something you think is bad. I agree to disagree on this, as I can have peace in my life without controlling everyone else.

“small country town mindset”. Stereotype much? That has absolutely nothing to do with it. Zero.  In fact, it’s insulting and inappropriate and I expected better than this.

Have you ever read some of the comments made about gay people at a certain bar in town?  People so threatened that they won't go to the establishment that serves gays.  .  . That is the small mindset I am talking about.

Go to a city and there are bars openly advertised for gays and no one cares.  They just go to the establishments they choose to without worrying about what everyone else is doing.

You can try to class it up all you want but this attitude against trans gender isn't about anything but non acceptance of something different that you don't understand.

I expect better than to hear such hatred for a group of people that think differently than yourselves. So I guess we are even.

Maybe this is the case is some areas but it certainly is not illegal everywhere.  I was listening to ultra left NPR (sometimes I do for a laugh) and they had a “trans” man on who had her breasts cut off when still in high school. And the reporter was actually agreeing with her that republicans are the problem for being against it.
    So yes….it does happen.

As with any cosmetic surgery, there will be places that do it with less rules and higher risk.

A lot of people commit suicide for many different reasons. Don't you think it's a little sick to permanently cut up a little kid because that kid MIGHT commit suicide?

Just where will our society end up when everyone ignores the bad they see just so their life is not complicated?

I don't support cutting up little kids. If you notice, I said the people I know who had surgery, had to wait until they were 18, as it should be. They also had extensive counseling. I was giving real life examples because you don't have any real life interactions from what I am reading. You just don't like the "idea" of trans gender and are letting it affect your peace.

I was saying that 25-30 years ago, there were no resources for the family to look at to find out what was going on with their child.  They didn't promote her being male, they continued to raise her female.  She told everyone to call her a male name and dressed male as soon as she could make her own choices in clothing.  They did not call her said male name. My point was, with the resources available today, she might still be here.  She may have had surgery to be male as an adult or discovered in the psychological evaluation that she did not wish to be male.  I bet you'd be surprised at how high the suicide rates are in teens and young adults with gender related issues.

I think what is dangerous is people hearing or reading something extreme and touting it as fact to the rest of the world, as you are doing with this so called issue of slicing and dicing kids.  Do you know of any kids this has happened to?

I'm not even sure what your last sentence means.  I said I can ignore things I don't agree with and live my life in peace. I never said I ignore bad things so my life isn't complicated.  Don't rewrite my words.

You have an extreme attitude against trans gender.  You think it is bad.  You are entitled to that opinion but it's none of your business who in your neighborhood or workplace may have had gender change surgery.

  11. I truly believe this is one of those things you will never try to understand if it doesn't directly touch your life. I can tell you that I know a couple young adults who have undergone gender change surgery and they were required to wait until they were 18.  They had years of therapy and psychological evaluations during the process.

You don't just go in and say "I want to be a "xyz" and have surgery the next day.

Sure, there are Drs. doing unethical things, but that holds in all areas of life, not just this situation.

I'm not a huge supporter of this but I also knew a young female that wanted to be a male from toddler age. She ended up committing suicide in her 20's and I believe it was lack of resources to help her cope.

There are a lot of things happening in the world that I don't agree with, it's best to ignore those situations and live my life in peace.

Women refuse to stand at winner’s podium after transgender cyclist finishes in first place in women’s category

Story by Chantz Martin  Yesterday 3:45 PM

A transgender cyclist won the female category at a gravel race but stood alone on the winners' podium after the event.

The second- and third-place winners refused to appear at the medal ceremony after Lesley Mumford won her age group in the 100-mile Desert Gravel Co2Ut. Mumford was born a male and transitioned to female in 2017.

Mumford posted a picture on Instagram of her standing at the podium alone but smiling and holding the first-place medal.

"I have no idea why so many people bailed before the podiums, but they did," Mumford wrote after finishing ahead of 43 female athletes in the 40-49 division.

The event did offer a nonbinary division, but Mumford decided to compete in the female category.

Mumford outpaced Lindsey Kriete by 17 minutes. Kriete finished in second place, while Michelle Van Sickle finished third.

Niether Kriete nor Van Sickle have publicly commented on their decision not to join Mumford at the podium.

The event did offer a nonbinary division, but Mumford decided to compete in the female category.

See, even when you give the wussies a place all their own, they still need to beat down women to make them feel like a real man.

This should not have been her decision.   She should have been required to be in the non binary division.  That is where the event holders could have stopped this situation from happening.

  13. I don't understand how this happens or how this is legal- to write a check to the United Way for a large amount as a charitable donation(according to previous article it was to avoid paying taxes) and then move it to a fund for a ball field.

I never realized the United Way was for building ball fields.

And now, they didn't know they had all this cash?  Add to the issue of the Fire company that didn't know they were missing a lot of money.

I really will think twice before giving to charity events in the future.

    I'm with you.

  15. We ditched the cable end but kept the comcast internet.  We pay $115 but it's very fast and runs a lot of devices at once.  We have 4 of us here running t.v.'s, laptops, gaming and watching streaming at once with no slow downs in speed.

We paid the $300 cable bill for years and hated it and finally did away with it last fall due to no one watching it enough.  I could not argue the speed of comcast internet though, so we just kept it with a speed package good enough to handle all of our devices and still save a lot of money.

I find this hard to believe. Prices are higher at the store, yes. I give you that.  BUT, there are waiting lists for big ticket items. Restaurants are crowded. Hotels are crowded. Amusement parks, concerts, cruises are still sold out. People are paying big bucks for dance lessons, travel ball, sports camps, and little kids are still carrying new iphones.  I think people like to complain and blame whoever is in office.  Most people can adjust their spending with inflation, many choose not to.  Help wanted signs all over. Those in worse shape should apply.

Let`s move this subject into towns/boros , for get your empty malls , never have so many houses been in need of repairs along the main streets into towns ( every last town ) . 60`s and 70`s never had the blight of homes , ST MARYS was immaculate then , Sykes- Reyn the same , middle class is losing you got to admit. Dollar stretching has become an art , new ideas should/could be shared for all to grasp.

I don't think middle class is losing. I don't believe those are homes of the middle class.  The middle class has moved onto bigger and newer homes and those are rentals, elderly on limited income that didn't prepare for retirement, people of all ages who don't have any pride and lower income families.  There are exceptions to each group though, for example, low income doesn't have to mean lazy slobs.

New ideas: work hard, spend smart, save smart and have some pride. Have two jobs if you need to. Stop upgrading phones and electronics.  Cook at home more, shop store brands. You don't need granite countertops. You don't both need new cars, have one newer car with a payment and an older one.  Don't use credit cards. For the love of God start saving for retirement early, even a small amount grows in time. Don't rely on social security.

CA is third highest state for cost of living.   What sounds good to someone living in PA, isn't a high wage after the difference is factored in.

I am always shocked at what my friends in CA pay for basic grocery items and rent/mortgage and all the more they get for the big payment.

I agree on the Day Care, but this is a problem for all parents who work and have children.  Daycare is terribly expensive.  I've always felt that each large business should be required to provide a Day Care center right in their building. Then adjust wages to cover the child care costs.  My husband and I worked and slept different shifts because we had 4 children in 5 1/2 years, so there was no way we could take the kids anywhere.  Hubby had up to 4 jobs at the same time and how he slept was...very little!  Wherever my kids were clustered and playing, that's where I would sleep, right in the middle of them.  Gates everywhere, elder children keeping an eye on the smaller kids.

I think there is a serious communication problem between the teachers and the parents, but how to solve it?  There is a difficulty when two caregivers are dealing with opposite sides of any kid.  One stressed parent wants everything for their kid, and the other wants an easier time doing their job.  It isn't easy!  It takes a dedicated person to be a teacher, and they're not all dedicated!  It takes an open minded and fair parent to deal with a kid in school, and some of them consider the school to be a babysitter, counselor and problem child solver.  The kids are the most needy in the equation.

That's a whole other topic, parents having more children than they can safely/reasonably/comfortably afford.   This is not the fault or responsibility of an employer or the teachers.
