Hey - thanks for sharing the pics. Have never seen such a collection of Vipers. Wonder what that bunch is worth? Probably plenty.

I used to have a couple Pekin Ducks. They are the white ones that look like the Afflac duck. Very fun ducks with personality. Also, love the fresh eggs. Duck eggs make a boxed cake big & fluffy too! Never had any chickens, but have bought fresh eggs from a friend with chic. There is nothing finer then fresh eggs. If you Knew how long it takes a store bought egg to get from chic to store, then we'd all be fighting for the right to have ducks & chickens where we live or are stuck living.
This is a bit off-topic but wanted to share. Years ago we lived in the DC area and there is a beautiful park downtown with lots of ponds and loads of tourists. I wanted to construct a Pekin Duck like the Afflac Duck you see in the commercials. And...also add a working bill so I could hide behind a tree and have him talk to the visitors. They would exclaim - "Did you hear that?" but I would have my duck swim away 'till the next victim. Thought this would be so cool.

These are some great shots. Nice going! You must have quite a collection. I wrote a poem in the past about a woodpecker and would like to share it with you. The title is TREE DRUM.
Woodpecker drilling with that jackhammer beak
How thrilling, is it food he will seek
And when he is through and his hunger appeased
Drum roll please!

Meatloaf made with Meatloaf Sauce Found this sauce in local grocery in Brockway. Country Meatloaf -- Recipe on jar 1 and half lbs of ground beef; three fourths cup of quick oats; 1 onion chopped. 1 egg slightly beaten; 1 and half teaspoon of salt; half teaspoon of pepper; 1-18 oz jar of Walnut Creek Meatloaf Sauce. Mix together beef, quick oats, onion, egg, salt, pepper and half cup of Meatloaf Sauce. Put in pan pour rest of Meatloaf Sauce over top and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. I had more hamburger so added about three fourths jar sauce.
So, how was it? I would like to try this. Sounds yum.

yes it looks wonderful after decades of neglect. But it is a shame that it took the volantary effort of one man to wake Dubois up and create a society to take finally take care of it.Hats of to you Sam E.for all your work with the cemetery...
I think that "one guy" was a vet from Reynoldsville. He would load his riding mower and equipment and truck on over to the cemetery. Also, he was looking for donations to help with the effort. What a beautiful job this has turned in to.

We have this on our front porch. I think it is honeysuckle. Looks nice as you have shown it. The birds and the bees like it as well.

Many thanks MrD for passing this along.

I wrote this piece about 10 years ago and would like to share it for all those who appreciate the Spring to come:
Based on Antonio Vivaldi's LaPrimavera (Spring) from The Four Seasons (1725)
First Movement
Spring is coming
Musical harbingers sing forth
Their joyful sound heralding the Season
Over hills and dales
Through valleys and swales.
Streams and brooks, arpeggios
Unleashed from Winter's weiss
Trickling and trilling rills over moss-bare rocks
Fanned by whispering breezes
And occasional windy sneezes.
Bolts of lightning, crashing thunder
Come to announce the season
Walloping vestigial shades of Winter.
Decrescendos, slow and long
Defrosting enchanting solo song.
Second Movement
On newly painted pleasant meadow
Little bright green sprouts nudge up
With the hint of Summer to come.
Soft murmurings of leaves and branches
Promising joyous hot summer dances.
Third Movement
Festive country pipes give sound
As nymphs and shepherds dance in
long-loved fields
Rebirth, revewal, renaissance
Now Spring appears in all Her brilliance.

Little green sprouts nudge up and the red birds are issuing forth with their beautiful mellow sounds.
Bird Feeders

Of late, I fill our feeder and it is empty the next day. I see deer tracks all around so they must reach up to it and have at it. My feed is 8 bucks a bag and it is enough for two fills. Can't afford to do this so....
