AT_PSU_07
What year do you think? Give some reasons to back up why your guess is right.
WMJ77
hmmm, flag is at half mast, traffic lights dont seem real old, but the street lights do, the car "could" just be passing through but the parking meters probably make the car about right....maybe someone that worked for city can tell by the lights or meters
Foxfan
That looks like a Hudson, maybe early 1950's?
retired outlaw
early 50's,recruting office,on left, parking meters ,building still there where parking lot is now
Roy G. Biv
Likely early 1950s. The car looks very similar to a 1950 Lincoln (although I don't think it is...but the body-style would be early 1950s), and the SR 219 sign is different from the photo of a PA sign in 1948 that I found. The car doesn't look "old" though, so my guess would be 1950-1955.
Ridge Rider
Just by looking at the car, I will say 1949.

Chili N Corn
I'm old .....but not that old ....... I would wonder as to why the flag is at half mast ...... Did someone important die (former President or VP) that may give you some clues as to when it was taken ..... I will tell you that if your grandpa was still alive he would probably know
soccermom
1941. I think the car's a Buick, the streetlights look from the 1930s and the flag is probably at half-mast because of Pearl Harbor.
BigP34
Why is this picture taken in that funny color?? .. No clue what year... but I just know whoever took the picture must be ANCIENT! ;D Kidding.. it's neat.. puts me back in my Mom's time (she graduated in 55)

Foxfan
The car is parked too close to the intersection, I wonder if they got a ticket. Not at a meter, either.....I will say 1957.... Who important died around then?..What's the prize?

old farm boy
I'll guess April, 1945....flag at half-mast for FDR......shrubbery is not yet in full bloom so might be spring....car is 40's or early 50's I think, but more likely mid 40's And yeah...what's the prize for guessing correctly? :X
soccermom
but did the traffic lights look like that then(1930s)? I believe they did. http://www.kbrhorse.net/signals/southern01.html
mosha
I think Ed is close on this one. The car looks to be about a 1950 Hudson. We had a '52 Hudson Hornet which looked a bit sleeker than this one. Early 50's.
supermom
by car I'd guess 1953-54 but why would someone take a pic of the flag at half mast so I'm going with 1963. car could be 9 or ten yrs old then.
Jeff
My guess is the car is a 1948 Packard Deluxe.... still figuring out the year of the picture though...
geezerwriter
I think it's a Packard, too. Has to be 1950s.

Ignatius
Car parked illegally! Can make out the US Route 219 sign clearly. Can also make out the recruiting sign of the three branches of the military. Don't appear to be leaves on the shrubbery. With flags at half mast, I would put the date at sometime after JFK's funeral. If I remember correctly the day of the funeral was bright, sunny, but cold (a Monday). The previous day was overcast and rainy (Sunday, Sykesville). I remember sitting in front of the fireplace in my parents home, Sunday lunch, but eating a bowl of home made chicken noodle soup, watch everything on TV. All of a sudden right in front of the world, Lee Harvey Oswald was murdered. 1963
crazycat
I would guess either 1963 also, but am happy to see the pic. I love this stuff look at the old 219 sign. Its hard to picture parking out front of that building today, there would be no way. Everthing looks laid back and so late 50's early 60ish.
