Nope not going to watch it. Even infants know what a woman is. It's a given like water is wet. I like to keep an open mind but there is no point in trying to convice me that water is not wet. As far as I am concerned people are welcome to mess with their own bodies as much as they like but it doesn't change their chromosomes or my mind as to what  a woman is or man for that matter. To misquote a wise man, "You is what you is."

I didn't listen to what Jen said but I have her rather viscous emails where she admitted removing spring flowers from the pots and disparaged 26 years of hard work on the part of some dedicated volunteers. Volunteer who did what no one else would do free of charge plus having bought all the pots and plants. We have tens of thousands of dollars in these areas over the years.   Also the police report of her harassment. Want to see them? Maybe our budget for each area?
The Beautification Committee has 2 members Eddie Tate and Jen Jackson. This came from the interim director of the Downtown Group. Are they going to take over the care of the City Building, the library and Pershing Lot and the 4 beds on the walkway? DTEGC might be on the small side because we ask our member to work, but we have quite a few more members than that.  What if we take our "sour grapes elsewhere? Those areas would be overgrown with weeds in 2 months. We would have welcomed the help if she had asked. She didn't.  We stay out of politics but anyone who would attack a group of volunteers who have asked for noting and have given so much of their time to beautify the community is pretty low. Proof in writing. I have it. Opinion isn't fact.
Oh, and if anyone is saying that we do a lousy job check the pictures of the beds on our facebook page.
The much disparaged Pershing Lot on which we do such a lousy job.

Oh, I agree and I am not the one who made it public. Who was that I wonder? We tried to deal with it discreetly and in a reasonable manner on our own with very poor results (it was capitulation or else) and then went to the owners of the property   I do reserve the right to defend against slander. We are not all that happy with the current regime in the city. They have done things that have made us very unhappy and we have a real whopper of a problem with them right now. Yes, we are using "cooperation" not "competition" tactics.  The day they say we can't work on the project(s) we are currently doing we will cheerfully desert them all and find something else to do. It can't be to hard to find something to do when we provide all of the labor free and also fund the projects. We are fools by any definition.

I think that a lot of what you are suggesting will happen with time and weathering. Anything new like that stands out like a sore thumb. Mother Nature may take care of in a few years about which time the weeds will be considering a coup d’état. I do agree that there is something discordant about it. I can't figure it out. You are right but  part of it, I think, may be that you have to look at it so closeup. It needs distant viewing and a background other that prim and proper housing. A mountain would be nice.

lavender got a reaction from block in Arrest of Dubois City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio
You may of course believe what you wish but this started 2 years ago before any of this other stuff went down. The situation elevated to the point where it was considered harassment. The emails were very unpleasant and no volunteer group that has served the community for 26 years should be subjected to that sort of treatment. There may be justifiable complaints against the city administration but in this case they put an end to a situation that was untenable and had a group of dedicated volunteers very upset. The Pershing Lot and the library both are city property and the city has the right to decide who tends them. I don't think that many people would be very happy if someone came into their yard and took plants out of their pots and put in what they chose.  The entire fall display on the lot was systematically destroyed this year a couple of weeks after it went up. Despite efforts at establishing a cooperative arrangement with the dear lady the city stepped in as a last resort. Over 20 years of free labor should entitle a group to some respect.  You may not like something but that doesn't give you the right to destroy it.
Oh, and there is nothing simple about flower planting in the city beds. It is grueling labor often done in hot weather, cold weather and a couple of times when it rained or snowed. Mulch is heavy and some of the large pots have to come in in the winter for snow removal. One person isn't going to be able to take care of it and said person wasn't willing to work with anyone. But believe what you wish.

Read this on facebook and had a good laugh.
So, there is a lot of talk about kids identifying as cats or dogs “furries”, and this is hilarious. . Imagine if you can, that one of my boys told me they thought they were a cat? Sitting at the supper table son says: “Dad, I think I’m a cat! Dad: “No son, you’re a boy! “ My son: “No dad some of my friends at school identify as cats, they call themselves furries, and so do I !! It’s my right and you can’t do anything about it!” Dad: “OK!! “ My son: “Hey, where’s my supper? “ Dad: “Your supper is in the catfood bowl in the corner. Now get off the table you mangy cat!” My son: “What???” Dad: hits him with a broom, “get off the table furball!!” My son in the corner looking bewildered! Me to my wife : “Is that cat neutered”?? My wife: “I will make an appointment!! “ My son: “What??? “ Dad: “Your mother and I have decided we don’t want a house cat, so get out to the barn and hunt mice!” My son: “What???” Dad: brandishes broom, “NOW, to the barn you stupid cat!!” My son: “Dad, I think I’m a boy!” Dad: “I thought so, now sit down and eat your supper!!” Spay and neuter these animals. Stop them from reproducing. Today’s society has enough fruit loops already. End of story!

I've never tried head lettuce . I was just wondering what made it  head up. Out of curiosity I looked it up. It says short days and cool night temperatures. We have had  cool nights. Don't know about short days. I was thinking lots of water. Cabbage heads up really tight after a good rain.
I'm sure that yours will be tastier than the stuff that passes for head lettuce at the supermarket.

Jokes on me! I just looked at this and was going to make a comment about people who couldn't keep the nominative and objective case of pronouns straight when writing. It drives me me crazy. If I read  between he and I once more .......   Although I see it doesn't matter any more since pronouns seem to be as slippery as gender. I think I'll just start using X chromosome and Y chromosome individual. I know that is going to insult some who can't deal with what God gave them chromosome wise  but to misquote Popeye the Sailorman, "You is what you is." Let the grammar police and those that have problems with biology  deal with that one.

Yes, newspaper makes a fine mulch. It is especially good with crops that don't like the heat generated by plastic. I killed Brussel sprouts one year by planting them in black plastic. Before Denny Bonavita retired I used to send out mental apologies every time I mulched with his column. Sometimes more reading than mulching went on.
