I honestly don't know. The feathered antennae and chubby body mean it's a moth not a butterfly but I don't know what kind.

Polyphemus Moth ??  I have had several at my house as of late. They hang out on my porch, seems like they cant fly to well. or more Correctly, Cant find direction to well .Sometimes I see them all green in color.Which i think is the Luna Moth. Notice they have arms, almost like a Bat.

Most flying insects such as moths and butterflies live shorter lives than we think because their only purpose is to mate and lay eggs.  They don't even eat but just drink liquids till they die.

You could be right, Junk.  I just looked this one up online and there are some pictures which are fairly close to what I saw.  The most interesting thing that I learned is that they only live as adults for a week.  Thanks!

It is supposed to repel mosquitoes. This is why it is grown. It is not a culinary herb like lemon balm or lemon verbena.

The citronella one? I think you are right.

They are almost identical except that the male has two spots on his wings that the females do not.  Also, the female is slightly darker with heavier veins.

I had to bump this thread because when I still think of her loss, it makes me pause and feels more relevant to me than the multi-week threads discussing John Duggar and the Sunday Biker Gang Shooting.  Its just my honest opinion, thats all.

Jennifer was an amazing young woman. She meant the world to me. She was my friend. I will miss her.

Try baby-gating off areas so that they can see eachother but not touch/fight.  I have a friend who had to do this for 3 months before her new cat (who hated dogs, and actually had her 90lb Boxer & 50lb Staffie up on the top of the couch scared of her) would coexist.  Now they play
