Dobby reacted to Titan in When did McDonald's move from the boulevard?
Interesting sleuthing technique! I think they both opened in 1993 at their present location, but I'm still willing to bet McDonalds was already open there before Walmart's grand opening.

Dobby got a reaction from Pappy in When did McDonald's move from the boulevard?
The kid & I were talking about cruising & we were at the auto store & I walked him over & showed him how we would whip out of McDonald's with our cars side by side & cruise down & turn around at the library. His reply was, " we were lucky". Just the look on his face as he gazed down the boulevard & I explained that there were a few less stop lights on the route. I was so happy to have this experience with him & it was without a damn smart phone in his hand or hearing about the lastest meme.

I remember the car that pulled out of McDonald’s and went through the wall at Rockwell. And another hit something that was in front of the plant managers house that was beside Rockwell.

This is when people actually would stop and hang out with one another instead of just looking at a screen all the time. I used to love the cruise and the vehicles. The sound systems were amazing in some of those cars. I miss the way it used to be!!

The Walmart site opened in 1993 so my guess would be McDonald`s moved that year or 1994
Red Lobster opened in 1995

I'm going to guess it was around 1990 to 1991 that they moved. I'm real curious to learn the exact date.
Crusin' McDonalds to the library over and over was the thing. Those were truly great times.

I wonder if there are any homeless people or anyone living there. I would take some kind of protection just in case. You never know.

The DuBois Area Historical Society and the Clearfield County Historical Society have a great book on lost towns. It's called "Ghost Towns and Vanishing Villages of Clearfield County, Pennsylvania" by Richard Hughes.

You used to be able to access a trail immediately across 119 from Murray's Ford, which goes past the concrete pump house for the Sykesville water system. I believe WW Equipment sits on a portion of the trail now, but the trail will take you up to 322 a hundred yards or so behind Sheetz. There was also a pond along the trail and the entire area would be ripe for the new GoDuBois Metal Detector group.
