  1. Same thing happened near my house a few years ago during a big storm.

The eagles rebuilt it bigger and better within a few weeks. Started out with a pair probably ten years ago and last Summer we had twelve soaring and circling over the house a few times.

They sure keep the rabbits and stray cats in check!

  2. Well, hubbys answer was, if you weren't getting the Chi, you could get one. :(

Well if hubby were to come home and it just so happened to find its way there i'd bet it would be staying.

Add in a few sweet innocent smiles and just happen to have his favorite meal for supper and you're in!  ;)

  3. I know!!! 3 more long weeks to go!!!

Boy are you going to have your hands full with two new kids!!

Been trying to talk the boss lady into another addition but I just keep getting that "look"...

I'll just have to do like I did the last time and take her for a ride and just so happen to stop at the place that has the puppies because I know she can't/won't refuse then.  ;)

  4. I was told socializing them as much as you can when they are pups helps with that.

That is the case with every breed of dog. As soon as you bring the pup home start exposing it to other people especially children as soon as possible. With the other pets we have always went a little slower introducing them. The first day or two we don't let the other pets in the same room to let the new pup adjust to its new home. After that we'll let them come in the room and check out the new pup in its crate throughout the day and gradually introduce them while we hold the new pup. After a few days of that they are usually good to go with a little supervision.

That's how we've always trained our German Shepherds and its worked for us. Little dogs???

  5. My Grandfather Never put plants in till the 2nd week of June.He always had a very nice Garden. A Frost in May is pretty normal for around here.

Can't remember exactly when but 10 or so years ago we had a very heavy unexpected freak frost in early/mid June that wiped out my garden. That was when we were canning heavy and it got well over 100 tomato and pepper plants. Had a hell of a time replacing the plants as everyone else lost everything too and the greenhouses were cleaned out.

  6. Petee when we make it we take all the outside leaves we peel off and layer them around the cut up Kraut after the crock is filled then we take an old plate about the same size as the inside of the crock and put it on top of the leaves and then wrap a couple bricks in plastic wrap and foil and put on top of the plate to weight it down.

Then we just cover it with a loose sheet.

Head to one of the local grocery stores and pick up one their used food grade 5 gallon buckets and make it in that.

    They're light and have a handle.  ;)

  7. Before I was married I shared an apartment with an Italian friend.  We took turns cooking supper and her version of sauerkraut was to rinse the heck out of it and then add butter and sugar!  I ate it then but never again.

My sauerkraut turned pink this year so we haven't touched it.  No idea why.

  8. I love me some pork and kraut!! I could eat it a couple times a month!!

Was unable to make my homemade kraut this year so I have been getting the next best thing.

Ted Palumbo's fresh made kraut and I always have to get his Knockwurst to add in it.

My wife thought I was nuts yesterday as I was eating the kraut right out of the bag as I was getting ready to put it in the oven. Glad I bought a couple extra bags!

My trick to good pork and kraut. Cook it in beef broth. ;)

  9. We have fed our German Shepherd the Canidae Life Stages since we got him from the breeder. Pay a little more but it is all natural with no grain fillers or byproducts.

Pedigree is one of the worst dog foods out there!!

Also If you set up with Petco online and get their Pals Rewards you can save substantial money buying it online from them.

  10. The best thing we've done for our cat Ava was get our puppy. She was turning into the "fat cat" poster child.

I've changed her name to "The Instigator". She'll come in where the pup is and stand there and look at him and then she humps up her back and hiss and the chase is on. She'll jump up on something where he can't go till he goes away and then comes back looking for him and does it all over again.
