(Same wage as your son) He hates CA.  But in 6 years and retires,  he knows wherever he goes, his pension goes with him.  Teaching pensions are very good and mostly protected.  PLus the more you make in your last 5 years, your SS distribution goes up. So he stuck it out not moving back.

That would bankrupt many rural school districts.  Or taxes will sky rocket.  That's his thank you to the leaders of the teachers union.

The first 2 even 3 (today) years of college are general education anyhow at 4 year colleges. They have to get at least $100,00 0grand out of you now. 2 yr Community and Junior Colleges is where it is at. You take basic reading, Writing, Speech, and any type of math. Then you are in the career study you want. And come out less in debt and making as much if not more money.
