Camera command center located around the tunnels underneath Brady St. While it was being built one of the nearby building started to collapse and was quickly demolished.

Is this an actual shot at Dubois camera building?  Are there always 3 people sitting there watching the cameras?

  2. The bottom two generators could do that.  Not sure about the top one.  The simplest  way is to to  pull it outside when electric goes out and plug things into it with extension cord.  Not sure if you can plug in your furnace though.   The bottom two can start with a key fob and a battery.  You could put one in a shed or garage by your house and exhaust it outside. Run it by gas or propane.   An electrician to wire in a transfer switch to your house and it would feed electric into your house and you wouldn't have to plug things into it with extension cord.  A generac 7000 watt generator at lowes like the one I showed costs $2100 and it includes a transfer switch in the price so its cheaper than the middle one you have.  You also don't need to keep it in a shed.  A relative has had one for 8 or 9 years no problems so far, just routine maintenance.  It starts up once a week and runs a 10 minute test and lets you know if somethings wrong.

  3. image.pngI would look into a house generator like this one.  The generators you show are portable.  Meaning you have to store them somewhere, keep filled with gasoline, start them and plug things into them that you want to run.   A house generator isn't portable its weather proof and sits outside of your house in one spot.  Runs on natural or propane gas and supplies you electric automatically when your electric goes out.  You don't go anything.  So at 2 in the morning you don't have to be outside in a storm or blizzard fumbling around with a portable generator that won't start.   The more kw means more electric output and more things it can run.  I would get a at least a 7000 kw generator which may be big enough to run the essentials to get by but everyone is different depending on what runs on electric in your house.  If you are just looking for simple survival, you could always make a fire.

  4. Depends what all you have running on electric like heat, water well pump, dryer, etc.A generac generator about 14000 kW should be big enough to get by for most people.  A 14000 kW Generac generator is about $5000 at lowes and that comes with an auto power transfer switch.  They run on propane gas or natural gas.  So you need someone to both pipe in the gas lines and run the electric lines into you control panel.  The house electric needs shut off at meter so electric company needs to do that.  You can run your own  gas lines and electric lines if you have the know how.

How many here are aware of this "organization" and it's history? It's soirees into Jefferson County, especially Falls Creek and the Tannery?

KNOX – A gang of thieves will be remembered and celebrated again as part of a week-long tradition in Knox.

The annual Horsethief Days festival will kick off Saturday morning and will celebrate the famous horse thief, Sebastian Boston “Boss” Buck.

Boss led the gang of thieves and counterfeiters in the 1850s. He was born in Centre County and is now considered the most famous horse thief in the history of the United States.

According to information from the Horsethief committee, Boss and his band of thieves would steal horses from the North and take them South to be resold.

His reach extended as far north as Maine and as far south as Kentucky.

Although he has an extended area from which he and his gang would steal horses, Clarion County near the Clarion River was his headquarters.

Several deceiving tricks were done to disguise the stolen horses.

The horses’ manes would be cut, their skin painted or their shoes would be turned so it appeared the horse were walking the opposite direction.

The Horsethief committee also shared the information that Boss would also sand the shoulders of young horses to give the appearance that the horse had worn a harness and worked many years in a field.

The thief had a reputation of having a good conscious. He never stole horses from the poor, or from a family that used the horse as a means of income.

Horse stealing was not the only activity that kept Boss busy, he was also a well known counterfeiter.

Boss continued to steal and sell horses until he was finally arrested in 1872 for counterfeiting. Before his arrest Boss stole horses from local residents in both Clarion and Forest counties.

Knox has been celebrating the history of Boss for 55 years. The community has claimed the title of “horsethief capital of the world.”

Hubby and I saw a skunk in the horse pasture across from the Bus Terminal on the DuBois-Rockton Road three days ago, mid-afternoon.  It was walking in circles for at least ten minutes at which time we had to hurry home.  I intended to call 911 to let them contact the Game Commission but forgot in the hubbub.  The horse was completely ignoring it.

Game commission doesn't care unless animal bites a person or a pet.

  8. Is there special landfills for hazardous material to go to?  Would these special landfills charge more to take the hazardous material?  So these companies try to find unscrupulous  "normal" landfills that charge a lower rate and these "normal" landfills then hide the hazardous material at the risk of employees and the environment?

  9. We visited the park yesterday. Very nice trails, lots of benches and picnic tables. Very organized. A lot of time, effort and money went into it. We will go back in nicer weather and take a picnic lunch in. About 1 1/2 miles if you walk everything, but many trail loops and you don't have to do all of them. Takes a lot of time if you read all of the carvings. You need to walk up a hill to get out. One thing that was odd was the parking lot was gated off and had to park along road. No signs indicated park was closed and other people were there. We were impressed with the park, worth a visit if you like this sort of activity.

  10. My cousin was out scouting deer very early Fall last year and found a Hen Of The Woods mushroom cluster about two foot in diameter. Boy was that good eating!!

Yeah they are good. I ate some a couple years ago. I guess they grow on dead trees.
