What corporation?  A big Pittsburgh one?  Do they know the responsibility he’s taking on and the amount of time it will take away from his current position?

I didn't think anyone thought that a DuBois city council position equated to a full time job-even in light of this mess that will need to be cleaned up.

Never said it was a full time job. But if he’s a big time Pittsburgh attorney for a big corporation, they typically expect 50-60 hours a week and being on call 24/7.

a Facebook search garnered me the information that he is (or may be) a Senior Contract Specialist at Lantheus Medical Imaging.  I doubt he's working much over 40 hours a week.

How is that any of your business? Most of the council members have full time jobs other than council.  Council pays basically nothing.

I’m a tax payer. I need to know that any elected official has the time to properly complete their civil duty.

Maybe the deadbeats that the city is paying for to defend should of got themselves and HER another more reasonably priced attorney.

But they've been getting full time health care benefits.  Better benefits than I and probably most get working full time!  I pay for half of my benefits and don't get all but $500 of my copay paid for.  Things that make ya say hmm.  Seems like a perk to be on council to me

So he should quit being an attorney to be on the council. I seriously doubt being on the council will hinder his work in any way and vice versa.

I am pretty sure other members on the city council etc have full time jobs and are on other organizational boards etc.

Unfortunately tho can we blame them for taking it? I disagree with it also… but that is something that needs taken up with the state who has allowed this to be a thing for these elected officials

Any update on community days this year? I would assume a lot of the free stuff will be cut this year which would make it a pretty sparse event.  Hopefully enough paying citizens show up to buy food from the vendors since their organizations depend on the revenue to stay alive.

Yes, we can blame them. They could have seen it was wrong and said no.  It wasn't offered to one - Shannon Gabriel -but offered to others who were appointed afterwards to fill vacant seats (Dietz) - and seemed to be done in secret.  Even if it is allowed by the state, it should be a point brought up to the people who accepted it. Why wasn't it public knowledge? Why wasn't it offered across the board to all council? How did they feel this was a savings for the taxpayers by having us pay for their insurance? (Most have decent jobs that offer insurance or are on Medicare. What were they thinking?)

Then, there is the issue of council getting in on the municipal pensions.  How is that a thing?

Community Days is a go! June 16-17.  Lots of activities, bands and shows to watch. Food booths as well. Parade and fireworks will be Saturday!!

Last I heard they are still looking for food booths to fill slots. They are usually full months ahead of the time.

He most likely would have had to seek the permission of his employer to pursue this avenue.  Many employers need to make sure their employees aren't going to engage in any conflicts of interest--unlike our city government apparently.  *Even those that aren't employed by a law firm.  Employers don't want their name on the line when things implode.
