mollycan
Does any one know where the first house in DuBois was located?
Petee
Isn't it near the corner of E Long and N. Stockdale. The house doesn't sit parallel along the street like most houses. It's at an odd angle.
crazycat
Agree with petee it is in the Jan Nichols books and writtten also in Pentz history of DuBois.
crazycat
The Edgemont dispute drives me nuts I always picture the place right along Larkeytown road but, its true the creek was rerouted so who the heck is alive that could even tell us where it was or how it looked then. The DuBois Hospital is also the exact place another park was called Electric Park, I've never seen any pics of this though but, also read of it ion all the local history books. fadedgenes
A distant relative in NY and I have been trying to figure out where this was for some time. An ancestor lived with relatives (the Collins family) near Edgemont Park, Falls Creek when he died ca. 1909. We thought it was located in the area somewhere near Taylor Ave. If that picture is from a post card, it is probably the one she has. Thanks for posting. mechanics daughter
Thanks for sharing. My dad used to work for that railroad. My mother and I would board at the station in Dubois to go for a ride. Great seeing those.
Guest
What was the name of the small park located behind/near the old drive-in? Edgewood Park was behind the roller rink out near the drive in.
Marine4
the same site that you are refering to behind the skating rink was the site of the DuBois fair for a couple years as well. The meadow was flooded resulting in the fair being moved to that location. But as I said it was only twice.

Perhaps some of us could volunteer to help make the historical societies website more interactive for those who have moved away?
