She sure did have a busy day yesterday with 9 visitors!! Brandi & Deryk cooked the turkey plus 99.9% of the meal. I taught them how to make deviled eggs. 😊 Plus I dropped off 2 pies Turkey Eve, Lemon meringue & heath cheesecake, plus a bag of frozen cauliflower & dinner rolls.

Has anyone else noticed the timeline on the events of November 9 and felt something was wrong?
From the articles I have read:
9:55am, police are notified this man supposedly shot and killed his girlfriend.
things run amok, Greeley is in a standoff of sorts with police and then flees, Greeley is apprehended at 11:35am  and Greeley is transported to Penn Highlands where Greeley threatens more people.
1:35pm/1:53pm (depending on the source) Troopers return to the scene and find girlfriend with a gunshot wound to the head and a tire track on her remains.  He shot her and ran her over???
Further stories indicate that girlfriend was pregnant.
Why does it appear that no one bothered to look for this poor girl--what if she was still alive?  Am I missing something, or was this article poorly written?

Condolences to her family.  What an awful situation.

This kind of stuff never used to spread like this.  We didn't have the communication and technology to spread it.  I enjoy the use of modern technology.  It can be used for a lot of good.  But a lot of bad comes along with it.

republican candidates can win seats in these different local elections…  but lose in landslides for statewide officials… give me a valid explanation why this happens.

Anyone pay attention to the election return numbers? Mail in voting has to stop. It’s blatant what’s happening. You can see it in the numbers.

You really believe there is this big of a difference between republicans and democrats with mail in ballots?

they got away with cheating in 2020 and now it’s just going to be the normal. No one will stop it.

The snide turnip truck remark wasn't aimed at you or anyone in general - it was in reference to the fact that I've been around the block once or twice and know what likely is going on during these midnight ATV runs.  My apologies if you took the comment the wrong way.

When folks go too fast down the road like that, and at 3 a.m., they ruin it for the rest of us riders who are law abiding. So, because of a few lawbreakers, the rest of us will not be able to enjoy.  Sad.  That seems to happen with a lot of things, not just UTV riding.  Not sure why you needed to make a snide "turnip truck" remark.  I've just been commenting on this and not meaning to offend anyone else who is commenting.  We can all get in on a conversation and not make comments like that.

Two more good points.  I just feel badly that innocents are being killed.  I suppose our government feels that if we let this happen, trouble could come to roost here eventually.  And if we fight it there, we won't have to fight it here?

One Thing, Jesus Christ - Article #10 -  Sixth Series - November 6th, 2023 by Fr. Ben Daghir
    Article:
Jesus says, “Let your yes mean yes, and your no mean no.”
The word “decision” has Latin roots (decidere and caedere). The prefix de means “off” and caedere means “to cut.” In other words, to make a decision is to “cut something off.” We make a decision when we look at options (whether two options or more) and cut off the options we don’t want. We do this all of the time
Think about going through the McDonald’s drive-thru. “I would like a #4 meal, please. Medium. Coke.” At that moment, we cut (like scissors on paper) all the other meal options and sizes. When I chose to become a Roman Catholic priest, I cut off the other options (single man, monk, husband) in deciding. When someone chooses to marry an individual, he/she cuts off the billions of other men/women throughout the world in deciding to marry one specific person.
To be clear, making a decision demands that we cut the other options. Now, let’s return to Christ in this Gospel verse. Jesus is demanding that we make a decision, that we cut the other options like scissors going through paper. He is demanding that we live according to the Gospel, we forgive, we are completely committed to God, we follow the commandments, and we are faithful to the vows we have taken.
In other words, Jesus wants us to make decisions. He wants us, like scissors slicing through paper, to decide Him in every aspect of our lives and among all the options. And, like the leftover paper scraps that fall to the floor, our old ways of living, our bad habits, our sinful actions, etc. must be cut off. It’s the demand of the Gospels. We must decide to have our “yes” mean yes and our “no” mean no.

So what you are saying is, because we have many many morons we should just eliminate anything that a moron can use to inflict pain, damage, et al, thats a really steep slippery slope.

They ain't burning down cities or ruining citizens lives any more. Why don't you see them? Why ain't your news covering them 24/7?
They are still here. Open your eyes.
When you watch the news channel of your choice you can see them if you pay attention.
Look at the crowd cheering on the fool with the megaphone supposedly taking a side on the neverending killing in the Middle East.
They dress to look like their side, they carry pre-made signs bought by others.
They are still here, carrying on the objective of the micro-minority that is trying to bring your country down and rule you.
    Wake up

These young people live with this EVERYDAY!!  They have developed a strength that we can't imagine, and they go on to greater things because they have to.  If they don't, we don't.  It's not easy being God's Chosen People.  At least, please remember them in your prayers.

Work on your tomato soil this fall remembering to move them to a totally different part of the garden to avoid pests and diseases.  Test the soil now for proper fertility levels and amend immediately.  You can pick up a Penn State Soil test kit at DuBois Feeds, Agway or your county Penn State Extension office.  Pick a winter sown crop that dies out over the winter.  Then you don't have to till it under. You can leave it in place as a mulch.  Do not till your garden, but use a spade fork or broad fork to OPEN the soil.  That allows nutrients and needed oxygen to get down to root level which is much lower than you might think.  It also does not disturb the microbiotic life which is what really feeds your plants., nor does it kill earthworms which tunnel oxygen and nutrients to your plants.
It seemed like this year was very wet, but not actually.  There were few drenching rains which penetrated down to the needed levels.  It was really surface moisture which does no reach the lowest roots.  Again, if your soils were compacted by tilling, they probably didn't get down anyway near low enough to wet those areas enough to support good root growth.  Good soaker hoses can help that but you have to leave them in place long enough to really saturate deep down at least once a week.  Also, use an organic tomato food, not a general garden food.  Dissolve the food in water and then soak throughly around the root system.  You will see better tomatoes.
