One Thing, Jesus Christ - Article #10 -  Sixth Series - November 6th, 2023 by Fr. Ben Daghir
    Article:
Jesus says, “Let your yes mean yes, and your no mean no.”
The word “decision” has Latin roots (decidere and caedere). The prefix de means “off” and caedere means “to cut.” In other words, to make a decision is to “cut something off.” We make a decision when we look at options (whether two options or more) and cut off the options we don’t want. We do this all of the time
Think about going through the McDonald’s drive-thru. “I would like a #4 meal, please. Medium. Coke.” At that moment, we cut (like scissors on paper) all the other meal options and sizes. When I chose to become a Roman Catholic priest, I cut off the other options (single man, monk, husband) in deciding. When someone chooses to marry an individual, he/she cuts off the billions of other men/women throughout the world in deciding to marry one specific person.
To be clear, making a decision demands that we cut the other options. Now, let’s return to Christ in this Gospel verse. Jesus is demanding that we make a decision, that we cut the other options like scissors going through paper. He is demanding that we live according to the Gospel, we forgive, we are completely committed to God, we follow the commandments, and we are faithful to the vows we have taken.
In other words, Jesus wants us to make decisions. He wants us, like scissors slicing through paper, to decide Him in every aspect of our lives and among all the options. And, like the leftover paper scraps that fall to the floor, our old ways of living, our bad habits, our sinful actions, etc. must be cut off. It’s the demand of the Gospels. We must decide to have our “yes” mean yes and our “no” mean no.

Anyone pay attention to the election return numbers? Mail in voting has to stop. It’s blatant what’s happening. You can see it in the numbers.

You really believe there is this big of a difference between republicans and democrats with mail in ballots?

they got away with cheating in 2020 and now it’s just going to be the normal. No one will stop it.

But we don’t and there remains a legally enforceable employment contract.
I, for one, would like to see the cards the AG is holding in her hand.

Good to see you Fed!  Your former stomping grounds are just coming into the best time of the year!
I don’t disagree with what you’ve written, except we do not yet know the truth.  Is it the PA AG?  Is it they who made the allegations that triggered the grand jury (now there is a perfectly balanced system?).  Is the entire DuBois city government, including every employee and associated outside groups, corrupt (Absurd to even think or type).
As I’ve said, I would like to hear/understand what the AG is alleging.  Let Herm face his accuser and defend himself.  Let our system play out.

If Herm had a contract as manager of Sandy Township, he would of been fired last April and no legal fees paid. Only a corrupt organization would pay his legal fees.

I would like to see the judicial process play out.  All accused need to face their accusers.  This whole area is mired down with an "Animal House" style double secret probation, where no one understands exactly what is going on and have been told even less.  The "concerned citizens" need to show their face.   The DuBois city government needs to quit acting as if they have something to hide.
Incidentally, as a DuBois resident, I voted for consolidation.

I just watched Jennifer's video she puts out everyday and am shocked and saddened by what she said.
She was accused of buying votes with her promotional giveaways which she has done in the past as well. i cannot believe how ignorant and asinine theses clowns are that you have running your community.
News flash to the morons who accused her of this not all those people who watch her videos live in DuBois but we do however frequent her business.
I like how she also called out the power hungry solicitor in the vid haha

On a side note I know that if I was running for something and got threatened etc. I would hunt you down and make you pay.

Trzyna was not a horrible city manager. He did a good job while he was there and moved on to something better. He is speaking up because he knows more about the job than most of us would since he once did it.

I hear "the establishment" is mounting a smear campaign against at least one of the write-in candidates for "sins" committed over 30 years ago.
The woman owned her mistake--which turns out to not be a mistake given the outcome.  And has been honest and forthright about other mistakes or missteps she has made.
The only perfect human died on the cross.
Shame on those that would attempt to disparage her.  I would rather work with someone that can own their mistakes than attempt to cover them up.

And when the government produces the paper trail in court, these two, especially MS. Cherry going to look like the fools at the kings party. Sounds like a cover job. What happened here is they let the King run unabated and  now you pay the piper for his indulgence. MS Cherry should be put under oath when this starts. Look for her to delay forever. Like she always does. Refusal to appear with a subpoena before a Grand Jury isnt going to sit well in the trial.  Especially when the Feds take their crack with 6 years of fradulent taxes.  No surprise. Everybody is CYA. That's why they all need cleaned out. The only one you dont hear about is Jim Aughenbaugh.

No mention of the $60,000 yearly garbage payments to the city  that the should of been placed into a city account for disbursement.

I am not fan of the project however, I do have a few suggestions to make what was done more palatable:  first, there are too many disconnected/not similar textures.  Perhaps what was painted on the center wall, could be painted on the bottom and top walls, to give similarity of color?
Next, I do not see how a waterfall fits into that location!  Isn't there supposed to be a stream feeding the falls and catching the water at the other end?  Anyways, maybe to make a bit less fake/contrived, moss or lichen can be encouraged to grow on the rocks?  Maybe a huge vat of plain yogurt could be spread to encourage that growth (I know, it may or may not work)?
The sign at the top?  Just plain out of place!

I do not want to defend nor condemn anyone until the forensic accounting & judicial process has played out.  A majority of voters from both municipalities have endorsed the merger and what has been alleged should not affect the final outcome, though it may determine how it occurs.
I believe the name should be "City of DuBois", but I also believe districts should be adopted, such as "Sandy District" and "Treasure Lake District".
Some here should be old enough to recall the school district merger of DuBois, Sandy, Sykesville, etc., and how it was facilitated by having the surrounding towns retain identity through the elementary schools.  That merger is now approaching 60 years past and many of the firebrands for and against are now arguing about in their afterlife.  My point is our area cannot be short-sighted about what has allegedly occurred.  That die has been cast and there is nothing that can change facts.  Work on improving what we can, but do not ignore the past or let the past have undo influence on our future.
